I have not posted a blog for several months as my husband, Bill Kaplan, who is the current Mayor of Riverwoods has been running for reelection. This is the first time in recent memory that a viable candidate has opposed a sitting Mayor so it created quite a bit of political excitement and interest. I am happy to say that Bill is currently ahead by 10 votes, but there are still 19 absentee ballots that remain to be counted. It is not yet a done deal.
The wonderful thing about living in Riverwoods is that you are surrounded by intelligent, fair minded people who value their privacy and freedom from excessive governmental restrictions. That is why Bill prevailed over the environmental group that attempted to take over our village government. We love our treas the beauty of our village and are dedicated to preserving them. We do however feel that individual property rights need to be respected and that education rather than legislation is the best way to preserve our Village.
There are currently some wonderful buys in Riverwoods for those who value privacy and natural beauty. We have a listing that is probably one of the best buys in Riverwoods. It is a handyman's special on a 1 1/2 acre lot in an area of high end homes. In 2005 the current owners paid $680,000 for this property. It is currently listed at $349,000. This is not a foreclosure or short sale. We also know of several wonderful foreclosures in the Village. Riverwoods is our home. We were the number one brokers in Riverwoods last year and were number one in our office. We would be happy to advise you and help you find either a great new home or a lucrative investment.
