Because Arizona has a large number of pools, the concern for children around pools is always heightened. Every summer needless numbers of children drown. Since 2001 the Phoenix Firefighters Association, SRP and Valley of the Sun United Way have come together to support a free Adopt-a-Pool-Fence Program. This program is offered as a way for safe pool fences to be installed for hundreds of Arizona Valley families who otherwise could not afford to buy a pool fence themselves. If you live in the Phoenix Arizona area, have a pool and no pool fence, check out the Adopt-a-Pool-Fence Program’s website at http://www.saverkids.org to see if you qualify for a free fence.
And if you yourself are doing OK financially in this economy, consider donating to this good cause that helps to keep kids from drowning in Arizona. You can also call 602-277-1500 for more information about the program, or to make a donation.Read more about this needed community program on our Benjamin.com blog.

That has to be one of the more useful and unique programs I've seen in a long time. We could probably use such a program here since, like you, we have a lot of pools here and there are always a few stories each summer about drownings, near drownings, or injuries that could have been prevented with a fence.
