PRESS RELEASE
May 14, 2007
The Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners will break ground on the Arbennie Pritchett Water Reclamation Facility on Monday, May 21, at 11 a.m. The new facility will be a 10 million gallon per day state-of-the-art water reclamation facility and will replace the existing 6.5 million gallon per day Garniers Wastewater Treatment Facility. The new facility will be located at the site of the existing effluent sprayfield for the Garniers facility, which is located on Eglin Air Force Base property.
The project will be constructed using the design-build process, which will expedite the construction and give the County more control over the cost. The contract value for the project is $49,389.098.Camp Dresser & McKee of Orlando is the design-build firm. Environmental Services Group, Inc. of Fort Walton Beach is the program manager for the project. HDR of Tampa prepared the design criteria package and Polyengineering Inc. of Dothan, Ala. Prepared the design for the rapid infiltration basins to which the new facility will discharge. Okaloosa County is self constructing the rapid infiltration basins, which will reduce the overall cost of the project by several million dollars. The project is expected to be complete by September 2009.
The facility is being named in honor of Arbennie Pritchett, a former Okaloosa Water and Sewer employee, who passed awhile while on the job as lead operator of the Russell F.W. Stephenson Water Reclamation Facility on July 25, 2005.
