Is it your office Green?  Not the color green of course, but is your office environmentally Green?  Recently I posted Green Mis-understood telling how I mis-understood a decorator' comment,  "I am going to help my client Go Green."  I thought she was assisting her client in making her home environmentally greener when the client just needed help chosing the right shade of green paint.

PAPER

  • Think before your print
  • Use print preview before you hit copy
  • Ask yourself:  Do I really need a copy?
  • Instead of printing could the information be saved on your computer
  • Make double sided copies
  • Use back side of mistakes
  • Take scrap paper home for the kids
  • Make your own notepads from 'mistakes' by cutting paper in thirds or quarters.  Staple.

 

  • Print multiple pages per sheet
  • Choose lesser grade of paper for everday jobs
  • Choose right grade of paper for your job
  • Print selected items only

SAVE ENERGY

  • Turn the heat down and turn the AC up
  • Dress for comfort (I keep a sweater under my desk for cool days)
  • Turn off unused or infrequently used electronics such as printers, scanners
  • Turn off coffee pot later in the day 
  • Make large pot of coffee and keep warm in thermos (Tastes better, too)
  • Turn off lights in rooms not in use (rest rooms or lunch room)
  • All computers should be turned off at end of day

TWO-FER TIP

  • Use the stairs rather than the elevator
  • Saves energy & uses energy (Get your exercise, too)

SAVE THE PLANET

  • Use mugs rather than styrofoam which is not recyclable
  • Buy mugs/glasses with your logo (could be a two-fer) (saves the planet & promotes you)
  • Put recycle bins in each room
  • Ask suppliers to take unwanted packages back for reuse

The KW-SWMC kills trees like nobodies business. I am cracking down on folks to print less and recycle more! I just re-did our property tour sheets form 10 pages down to four! YEAH! We all have to do our part. Bring a real coffee cup and don't use the foam or paper ones ever again!!
