Blogging is not just to advertise.

I have to take aim at some of the folks here on active rain. Some of these guys do nothing on here but send out their pre-scripted ads and that's the extent of their contribution to our community. I see we just went over 31000 members and this is a great place to pitch your services or products. I don't have a problem with ones that do that and still contribute in other ways.

They ask us to come check out their lead generating tools, seo tools, they promise us 100 points added to our credit score in 30 days (haha yeah right). I think there should be some rules about how many ads you can place here without some other content.

Just a thought, what do you guys thinks?

Blogging is only partly to advertise.  I have found that AR has been a great way for me to learn lots and lots about the industry and also to network!l

To each his own.  I have a big mouth and talk about everything - real estate and non-real estate related on here.  I hope that the glimpse into the type of person I am will make people want to work with me rather than having to plug what I do continuously.  I do get the annoying emails and contacts by phone, but I got those before from people just cruising the homebuyer's journals!

Jeff,

You have good point. The AR doctrine is to help us grow and promote our business. Some are using it only to promote and others are doing a mix. At the end of the day, the ones with the mix are likely to reap the most fruit, I suspect.

Great post Jeff- It is too hard to get through the good content on a daily basis, when you have to scroll through all the irrelevant advertising and posts.
