If you leave a comment, Jim will visit your blog and leave a comment. On a recent visit to the San Diego Zoo, I had the wonderful opportunity of seeing three peacocks strutting their stuff. I had never seen a peacock in full display before, and to see three of them in one day was awesome.

The San Diego Zoo has a flock of peacocks that wander the grounds typically roost on the tops of buildings. I've seen them fly to and from the rooftops before, so they obviously could leave the Zoo if they wanted to, but if you lived in a place as awesome as the Zoo, would you leave?

I posted the two best peacock pictures in a recent blog post, but I think the series of pictures I took is just as interesting, perhaps more so. The following pictures are in the order they were taken, so you can get a feel for what the peacocks were doing strutting their stuff for us.

What beautiful peacocks.  They certainly are wonderful photos.  By the way, did they give you one of their feathers -- cats LOVE peacock feathers.

Hey, Joan.

I was hoping that one of them might lose a feather, but I also suspect that one of the many children there would have gotten it before I did.

Hey, Matt.

That's my favorite, too. I can't believe I was lucky enough to get it.

Hey, Jackie.

"Flip book" is what I was trying to remember when I did the post but I couldn't remember what those things were called.

Hey, Al and Peggy.

I just stood there snapping pictures as fast as the digital camera would take them. I wish I had thought about using the video function on my camera.

Hey, Lara.

If the wind had not been blowing and the digital camera would take pictures faster, I would have enough to make a cool flip book.

Hey, Kim.

I've being going to the Zoo for over 20 years now, and the peacocks are always walking around somewhere, but this was the first time I've seen them strutting.

Jim: what a fabulous series. I absolutely love peacocks. My brother in law uses them for "watch dogs" at this farm - they are noisy. I would love to have a huge vase of their feathers if they drop them .

PS Please post your movie review again - I was trying to give it a gold star and goofed. !

Have a great day!

Hey, Janice.

I have a friend out in the boondocks who has had a flock of peacocks on his farm for about 30 years, but I've never seen them strutting. I do know that they are noisy and messy, and the noise they make roosting on the roof would keep me awake at night. I thought "roosting" meant that they went to sleep.

Nice pictures. Those peacocks at the zoo are usually very active and have a lot of personality!

Hey, Melissa.

They've always been active, running around searching for food, but I had never seen them strutting before, not to mention honking like they did. They can be quite noisy.
