Nothing Ruins My Adventure: Protecting Your RV

People who invest into a recreational vehicle do it because they want to explore, travel, and see new places. It's a wonderful decision for those who love adventure.

And what can ruin an adventure? Many things. That's why it's extremely important to make sure you're fully covered for your RV. You'll find that simply adding your RV to your auto insurance isn't going to cut it.

Take these scenarios for example...

You're travelling from Florida to California. Although you take good care of your RV, somewhere in Arkansas, you break down. Auto coverage policies do often offer roadside assistance, but many don't include your RV. And even if your auto policy does include your RV, it may not cover everything you're going to need. Such as, towing an RV can cost much more than towing a car, but your auto policy is only going to pay the amount of towing a car. You would have to pay the rest yourself.

You're travelling along, safe as can be, when drunk teenagers slam into your RV. Your auto insurance guys will generally inspect your RV, but you'll really need an RV specialist to make sure there's no damage. They are trained to look in the right places, while auto insurance guys probably won't really know how to properly inspect your RV. The RV specialist will also work with repair shops that know what they're doing, while your auto insurance guys most likely won't know a good RV repair shop.

You're about halfway through your cross-country trip. You stop to get a bite to eat, and when you return to your RV, you find that it's been broken into. You're missing your GPS, laptops, cameras, recent purchases, iPod, and an expensive watch that you just happened to leave in the glove box. Your auto policy isn't going to cover these stolen items. It also won't pay for them if they happen to be damaged by anything else, like severe weather. With RV insurance, you can protect these things.
