My wife, daughter, and I were looking for something to do today. All week long, we saw signs and flyers for the Sunlove Fest at Ferran Park in Eustis, Florida. There was to be music, art, and food... coming from S. Florida, we were thinking along the lines of Sunfest or Artigras.
When we arrived, the traffic and parking were very light. That should have been our first clue. Well, we continued. At the gate, we were told that it would cost $4/adult (children under a certain age were free... guess who got in for nothing?). We decide to bit the bullet and pay.
Anyway, we start walking around. I notice that there are very few booths and a band playing on a stage with even fewer people paying attention. As we begin the circle around the festival, it became evident that we were out of our element. Turns out that Sunlove is more of a holistic and natural healing festival.
There were people doing Tarot readings. Some people were getting massages. Another person was lying on a table while a woman was dancing with a maraca and chanting. She then picked up what looked like a feather fan and started wisping at the person. (It looked pretty interesting, but we decided to push on) Then there were the herbal foods and drinks. And of course, the art was not really the art we were expecting... it was more of a jewelry type art.
Well, needless to say, we were a bit upset with the whole thing because it was not what we were expecting (Next time I will check out the website before I go to a fest(ival) if I am unfamiliar with it). But, on a positive side the proceeds that were collected for admission are being donated to Hospice.
