In the last 2 weeks, I searched my MLS for information to show homes to my clients.  There were 16 homes listed as "vacant" and on lockbox that I chose to show my clients among others that needed scheduled appointments.  Gee, what a surprise when I showed up and on 13 of the 16,  the lockbox was missing or wasn't an MLS (supraekey in our area) but a contractor's box with no code entered into the realtors comment section.  You realtors who don't keep the MLS listings up to date help to perpetuate the "realtors are unprofessional" impression.  Imagine how it looks to a potential client when I drive them to a house and look around for the lockbox, only to find none exists or it's not the kind I can access.  I can promise you that the comments from my mouth are something like, "I can't believe some of these realtors make any money," and that's the nicest thing I'll say about you wasting my clients' and my time.   In addition to looking unprofessional, it's a waste of time and gas.  Can't you spend 2 minutes accessing the MLS to change the information?  Okay, so our system takes about 5 minutes - but isn't 5 minutes to look more professional worth it?  Why don't you take your toothbrush with you to the computer, update your information while brushing your teeth and you'll accomplish two more professional looks!!!

Seriously, I'm feeling your pain.  While I'm not a Realtor showing properties and need to have lockbox codes, so often my clients walk into properties that were falsely represented on the MLS. 

Don't even get me started on the serious violations (that's a post for another time) but rather I'm talking about really simple stuff like "no kitchen appliances" or "no toilets", you know, stuff you couldn't see in the one picture the LA took of the front of the house from across the street sitting in their car.
