Build a Better Blog - Take the Challenge

I was very excited when I saw the initial email from my Philly friends, the Somers Group, asking people to join them in the Probloggers 31 Day to Build a Better Blog Challenge.  They were so excited they even started a group for us to all share our experiences - check it out.

I thought - who wouldn't want to improve their blogging abilities while at the same time, growing their business, their knowledge and having a way to stay accountable to those tasks?  Then, the excitement turned to panic as I took on some new clients in the past 2 weeks with lots of projects that had deadlines.  Believe me, I'm not complaining, but what was I to do?  How could I do these tasks and my work?  As the days came and went without my doing a task I started to get discouraged wondering how would I ever catch up.

I had some free moments of time this afternoon and went over to the Problogger site.  Great news!

One of the great things about this challenge is that Darren has designed it in a way that does not stop participants from saving his valuable emails and doing a few tasks a week instead of 1 each day.  In addition to that great nugget of information, I also discovered that it's not too late for you to join in on the fun and the amazing learning experience to building a better blog - I highly recommend it as I am learning "new" and "better" ways of improving my blog and extending my reach and you can too.

Hold that elevator please...My Elevator Pitch

Ok, so here I am at Task 1 - Elevator Pitch

Problogger explains an Elevator Pitch in this way: An elevator pitch is an overview of an idea for a product, service or project.  The name reflects the fact that an elevator pitch can be delivered in the time span of an elevator ride (for example, thirty seconds or 100-150 words."

As I read through the exercise I realized I had created one already without even knowing what I was doing, that I have been using since the very beginning of establishing my business.  For those of you who read my blog regularly you may have noticed that at the end of each blog I have the question:

Ready to take your marketing to new levels? I also have this linked to my realestate show that highlights some of the reasons we should partner to improve your marketing efforts.  I've often thought that if someone is answering that question while visiting my blog then they would be intrigued enough to contact me/engage with me to find out how they can experience a new level in their marketing by partnering with me.

What are you thoughts?  Do you think that my elevator pitch addresses what I do and how I can help you?  (I love honest and constructive feedback - so fire away.)  Note: If TLW is visiting, please be gentle (lol)

To my faithful readers: What is your elevator pitch?  If you don't have one what do you think a good one would be that describes you and your services and encourages people to engage with you?

Again, I invite you to join in on what I consider to be a great challenge - one that will have you feeling you have a achieved a great level of understanding of blogging, your business and the effect you can have with your consumers and colleagues.

Of course, if you simply don't have the time or desire to join the challenge, feel free to stop by my blog for some helpful tips and advice and to follow along.  I absolutely love sharing information with my readers and others may say it but I believe I have the best readers who appreciate the knowledge, advice and experiences I am able to share with them and that they so warmly embrace.

Hey Anne Marie, This challenge is such a great idea...I know others who are in the middle of doing it and I want to as soon as I find some time, LOL! Having an elevator pitch that clearly defines what you're blog is all about is an awesome idea and something that you can use when someone asks what you write about. I'm going to work on for myself :-)

Have a great day,

Anne Rains

Anne Marie - Wow what a great post !  I have a feeling you will catch up in no time with the 31 Day Build a Better Blog Challenge.  I think your elevator pitch is smooth and right on.  Just by reading your blog, a reader can learn a lot to take their marketing to new levels.  And when they are ready, they should contact you !  I think it is great.  On a side note, thank you for mentioning us and am glad you were inspired by us.  That is pretty cool.  ~ Chris

Eric - LOL - yes, time can be a factor when there's so much to do but like I said and am showing - I'm behind many of the others doing the challengs but so what - I'm doing what works for me and benefiting from it more than I ever imagined.

Jess - Awesome - I'm going to have to head over to your blog to check out how you're doing :)  Good luck and lets keep encouraging each other and keeping each other focused on the tasks.

Chanda - Exactly!  I'm finding that I do many of the things he outlines (so far) but fine tuning some things to be ever better - I hope you'll join in the fun - it's never too late.

Pat - Great to hear so happy you will be joiing in and happy you didn't think it was too late - I'm proof of that.  Can't wait to see how it's going for you.

Erin - You're so very welcome and thank you so much for following me and finding that I provide helpful information to you.  Pictures show up in 3 ways - see my post titled "I'm always up for a challeng and this is no exception" that describes getting a Rainmaker badge.

Anne - It really is a great learning tool being part of the challenge and hope you will join - I promise you'll be happy you did.  I agree having a "pitch" lets people quickly know who you are and what you can offer - can't wait to see what you come up with!

Tina - Please do and I agree - great advice = priceless and you'll get lots from this challenge and hopefully by stopping by here from time to time :)

Chris and Stephanie - thanks and thank you for encouraging me and so many others to join.  Yes, you know me - dedicated to getting it done.  So happy you like my pitch and I think you're the only one who commented on it so I was starting to think it stunk.  My pleasure to mention you and the group :)  Will continue visiting your blog to see how you both are doing with the challenge - hey, are you both doing it or taking turns?

Heather - thanks and I'm so sorry to hear you're under the weather - I hope you get well soon!
