Monument Valley at First Light by you.

Monument Valley is the aptly named area in northeastern Arizona.

These are just two of the magnificent formations that rise up from the desert floor, some reaching heights of 1,000 feet above the surrounding terrain.  They are beautiful at any time of day, but the best times are early morning or late evening, especially for photographers.

They are not exactly in a convenient location but there is lodging available within a few miles.  This would make an excellent side trip while traveling between the Grand Canyon and Moab, for instance.

In addition to gorgeous scenery, you just never know what you might see while you're there so keep your eyes open and your camera ready!

Mike, thank you, those are wonderful. I lived in AZ, on a cattle ranch in the middle of nowhere. My favorite place in the world. Beautiful shots!

Andrea - Here I thought you were "pure Yankee" (who owns some cows), and it turns out your a real pioneer!  Is living on a working ranch in the desert truly "living the dream" like us city slickers believe?  :-)

Robert - I sent you a few more links, too.  Have a good trip when you go.

Michael - Thanks for stopping by for a look.  I need to get back out that way - there is so much to see!
