Everyone is abuzz with Susan Boyle from England. Susan is a 47 year old woman, single, with a cat. She came on the TV show Britain's Got Talent 2009 to perform a song. She had always dreamed of performing in front of a live audience and sing beautiful music. This wonderful woman has inspired a nation. No not nation but nations.
How can Susan Boyle inspire? Susan has inspired companies, individuals, and industries. She has inspired me as a mom and as a Realtor.
What has Susan reminded me of? You can never be too old, looks can be deceiving, never give up, and always believe in yourself.
How does this relate to Real Estate? I think sometimes (sometimes too often) we are very judgmental and rate a potential client as a non producer or a "sure thing" based on little to no facts. Each client should be treated consistently with respect and given professional attention. You really never know what you're going to get in people. I just closed on a home that my clients paid cash for a very nice home. At first look, you never - never - would have guessed they we going to make a cash deal. I never judged and treated them the same as any client I work with. At the end of the deal, I learned about them and myself. Don't judge a client by their cover or car.
I think we all are aware the best clients are a melting pot. There really has not been a typical great client. They are old, young, rich, poor, tall, short, skinny, fat, high maintenance, easy going, and the list can go on and on. Uniqueness is blessing and we should embrace it.
Susan had always wanted to sing but she said she never had the chance. She waited for that chance, never thinking it would not come but when. I will aspire to live by this example. I have goals, dreams, challenges, that will one day come to pass but when will be up to me.
I am truly inspired and grateful for Susan Boyle's performance. If you would like to see it, click here.
Join me in pledging to make changes in my life to insure I will not give up on myself, do not judge others, always take chances and chase your dreams no matter where you are in your life.
