Before I begin my second round of selecting the one article of each Apprentices Blog that would possibly cause me to hire them, I would like to say a few words about "Stream of Consciousness" blogging.
When I wrote the first round of six apprenctice blogs I opened each blog as I was writing the post. I scanned through as a consumer would, meaning I only went as deep into the blog as a consumer might before leaving the blog.
Actually in this case, I stayed longer than a consumer would, looking for a specific type of post. A consumer might not give you that amount of time. In my "half way there" post after the seventh week and at the beginning of week 8, I will be more brutal. Though some think I've been too brutal already.
Stream of Consciousness is recording your thoughts and reactions in real time AS YOU HAVE the reaction. Sure we could stick around and rationalize and try to come up with something positive to say. But the real estate industry is highly competitive. To suggest that people will stick around long if you turn them off at first glance is simply not constructive. We all know that consumers in the real estate arena whiz right by that property whose pictures look bad at first glance and that agent whose blog turns them off at first glance.
Sure, there are many homes on market that a buyer might purchase if they didn't rule them out on the internet. If they actually went to the home, they might buy it. But that doesn't change the fact that people DON'T got to see the home if it doesn't make the cut in there first view on the internet.
Same holds for blogs. By saying YAY or NAY at first glance, I will be reporting my reactions as if I am a consumer looking for an agent in Stream of Consciousness style. Consumers want to SEE HOW YOU THINK, not what services you offer. If I can't see you think...if I don't feel like I am standing in the room with you when I read you blog, then you are missing the boat. And I intend to report that for whatever good it might do you. Not because I am mean, but because you deserve my best thoughts. My best thoughts are rarely sugar coated.
I like this writing....straightforward...to the point. My writing is like me as well.
