This week I posted I had a big transition I was going through and gee that seemed to get a lot of attention. I felt bad because I thought, "oh no they are thinking it is going to be something WOW."(or something personal)

I mentioned in the post that once you get through the getting through the getting through it is worth it. It was a hard decision one I had stuggeled with for 3 years but I knew in my gut it was the right thing to do.

Back over a year ago I had my Ann Arbor Real Estate Blog built my Dakno Marketing and have been really happy with the results so I had contracted with them to build my new web-site.

Since I began blogging on Activerain in December of 2006 I had worked really, really hard to get my old web-site with my old domain up in the Search Engines. There was a lot of junk in the source code that I was not aware of until learning about things like that here. I didn't want to let go of all the work to get good SERPS and then just abandon it.

Now the name of my site is MissyCaulk.com.

Looking back, I would never have chosen my name but that was 1999 when that was the thing to do. So I had to stick with it or start completely over.

That is when I looked at Dakno to build my new site with my seasoned domain name...MissyCaulk.com

MissyCaulk.com

Brad Carroll and Bobby Carroll suggested keeping the same theme and look of my blog.

Three modules on MissyCaulk.comI ONLY wanted three main modules on it because I think consumers are really looking for houses, market reports and local information about where they are going to relocate.

Market Reports

The Market Reports link to all of my Altos Reports for Ann Arbor and Saline.

Neighborhoods

There are several really cool features I am excited about and one of them is the interactive maps where I can link to all the neighborhoods in Ann Arbor and Saline.

That is proving to be a time consuming as I research and add content about each neighborhood with photos of the different styles of homes found in each neighborhood. My listings plotted on Google Maps

There is also an interactive map for all of my listings, where they can schedule an appointment, find out more details or request more information and add in my Real Estate Shows.

Another feature I as super excited about is that I can build my own content and pages. I was not able to do that on my own static site and had to wait for the web master to make any changes.

Now I can just go in and build a page for Buyer and Sellers and add content. This is where I am been linking to some of my older but still local information posts from Activerain.

For example the History of Ann Arbor and the History of Saline, and Information on Schools.

Agent Back DoorThe back end of the system is called Agent Back Door and this is the power of the site.

From here I can add my Team members, assign leads, add content, neighborhoods, pages, add new listings, manage or change my responses, add testimonials and condo information.

So now do you know why I said: "get through the getting through the getting through it is worth it."

I have barely scratched the surface of what I will add to this new website.

Thankfully the support with Dakno.TV the tutorials on Agent Back Door are incredible. Finally, when I mess up on a weekend by adding the wrong Google Analytics code, Bobby and Brad jump right in and get my site back up and running.

Yea, I really did it deleted the whole thing after 18 hours of working on it.

One big benefit of Twittering with the Dakno boys.

So what do you think?

I love the thought that you have put into your website.  I agree with your assessment that most people are looking for MLS access, market reports and neighborhood data.  Looks great!

Hi Missy...I will tell you exactly what I think.  I like it very much.  The clean looks are impressive.  I don't like lots of clutter (mine needs de-cluttering).

Congratulations.  It was well worth the getting through to get through.

Missy...looks great! But how can one find the time to blog, manage a website, manage a team, AND sell real estate! I'm losing my mind! That's one of the reasons' I want to go with the "combo" of a blog and a website together. I think I can get my mileage there. (Not to mention, pay for two things!)

What's your thoughts/suggestions about having just the blogsite vs. two things to pull your hair out over!

Thom, I think that is a wonderful idea. If I could start over I would not have a MissyCAulk.com site but I have too much time into it to walk away. So I needed to do both. Plus because I list a lot I wanted one place to see all my listings together. On a blog they get buried with the other posts by date. Now if I was just getting into the business I would probably still go with one.

This site is not static as you can see so it is more than just a never changing site.

Kate, thanks so much. I think it will be great when I eventually get all the neighborhoods in. I am trying to do  two a day so I am not overwhelmed.

Ryan, Hi thanks so much appreciate your comment on the modules and what consumers are looking for.

Missy, That's GREAT!!  I kind of feel like I've been with you on the journey from the beginning!  I have a very seasoned site that could use a revamp.  I have always worked as my own webmaster and like clean lines but I'm limited as to what I can do.

Marchel, yes you have so you know I've been thinking about it for a long time. Funny thing yesterday I got a comment on a blog I wrote one of my first ones here and I was asking that question back then. Should I or shouldn't I ? Took me awhile, loyality can be a handicap in certaing situations  but it simply did not make sense to me anymore business wise.

Hi Missy, It looks great and I like the less is more approach myself. I have been thinking of chucking all of it. Starting over with someone I trust and that believes in me as well. You are lucky you ended up with Dakno, as I think they actually care and showed you what awesome looks like.

Two late right now, but I will come back and look at it very closely, I know Bobby and Brad from the seminar in Chicago and since I am watching hwat they do, as I was very impressed. They really understand this business, and I would be interested in, maybe, going to them.

Thank you for opening up your site. Really interesting.

I never heard about Agnet back door

Your site is very clean and professional!!  When I first created my site, I did the cathytishhouse.com and then learned it was a bad idea after finally getting some good google presence.  However, I did start over with homesinoaklandcountymi.com and am now on google page 1 for several terms.  I do OK with my SEO but do want a cleaner look one of these days with a professional redesign.  I did keep my original domain site for $10/month on Point2 and I am on page one for one term - didn't want to lose that but don't promote it.  Always like to see what you are up to.

Missy, Nice looking site. I am really debating on how to approach ActiveRain though. I am building a blog within my site as I find that many of my blogs here in ActiveRain no longer show up on the internet like they once did. I feel that I can SEO optimize each page and take my chances that way...

William, Dakno did such a good job on by Blog I would not have considered anyone else. It's important to have the support after the launch and they definately supply the training and support.

Jon, Agent Back Door in the back side of the site where you manage and create everything. Easy to use and lots of training on it.

Fran and Rowena, you can just play around with the actual site to see how it all works, I hope the consumer likes it as I wanted it all about them.

Jeff, thanks

Cathy, that was the issue I had but after mentally debating it for 3 years took the plunge. They did 301 re-directs so hoping I will not lose much placement. But will work hard to add new content to get it back. Something I couldn't do on my static site.

Michael,my blog is incorporated into this site too, but yet it also has a separate landing page with a different URL. You can only be on Page one of Google for one site, so this opens up more options for me to have more than one site placing on Google. I think Google has changed something. For awhile even my comments were being syndicated and now I never get a Google Alert on anything from here. They are still being indexed but just not getting an alert on them.

Missy - your site looks really great and clean. I've been contemplating with a change myself. It has been very frustrating for me when I always have to call or email my webmaster to change things and the results are less than flattering. I've customized my website and if I had known what I know now....I guess I have to make a decision of "Getting through the getting through".

Missy-

I plan on going live with Dakno at the end of this month.

I feel very much as I did whenI launched with Best Image, excited and optimistic and a little anxious.

But I'm old enough to know that when you feel a little twinge of fear, you're on the right track.

It's when you feel secure that you need to worry!

Missy - I love it!  I've been a fan of Brad's for quite some time, love his websites and one of my long term goals is to get a custom Dakno site.

Greeting Missy - You are so kind to say such nice things about your Dakno SwiftSite. Offering affordable website solutions that work really is important especially in today's challenging real estate market. Paired with the Dakno.tv website, now agents just like you can easily learn how to maintain and update their Dakno website without the need of knowing gooey HTML code.

Thanks again for the kind words. May you experience tremendous success with your Dakno Blog and new SwiftSite.
