Stop and smell the flowersA WONDERFUL SHOW OF SUPPORT! I am humbled each time the POSITIVE ATTITUDE for the Weary Soul group holds a contest and the community gets together with a show of support. The entries are always beautifully thought out and written to display the theme for each. With a Spring Cleaning.....and Fresh Ideas.....For Changing Times theme there were creative minds running rampant across the rain.

My Spring Fresh non entry A Wonderful Change With A Spring Fresh Future! Told my own story of my beautiful daughter's wedding after a long journey of finding ....herself. Others told their own views of cleansing from the inside out to brushing up on marketing for their business. WE ALL had a story to tell and in turn it brought loads of inspiration, motivation and a sense of camaraderie that we all strive for in these changing times.

~~~~~~~~
Bottom line, you all contributed to this community to give inspiration, motivation and positive attitudes for any weary soul during this spring in changing times.
I thank & applaud you all for making this Spring Fresh Contest a Huge Success!
The Judges Who Worked So Hard over the past couple of days to read ALL 52 entries and come to an agreement for places:
  • Kathy McGraw  Realtor® in Banning, CA- Celling Realty.   She also moderates for the POSITIVE ATTITUDE for the Weary Soul group and has been a consistent voice in ActiveRain for almost two the simple thingsyears. With her ‘no bones about it' she is the essence of "being positive does not mean I let you run over me"
  • Ann Cummings RE/MAX Coast to Coast - Portsmouth New Hampshire Ann is a 2.5 year veteran member of ActiveRain and one of my favorite Localism writers (honestly...one of my mentors) She has supported all of our members throughout her time here and one of the most 'real' people with her straight forward attitude.
  • Linda Bourgault is one of my dearest friends from Hawaii and we initially met because of my affiliation with her husband Bruce (he was a loan officer who frequented our office often). Since his death, it took her a year before she came back to ActiveRain...and in full force!
  • Deb Brooks Lake Livingston Real Estate, in Huntsville, TX is founder of one of my favorite groups Diary of a Realtor and most recently started her outside blog for the group with loads of wonderful entries for not just real estate...but everything real estate industry related (which is just about everything).
EDIT:    A complaint came in regarding the first place winner's (Sheldon) number of written words. Including the title it was 381 words total. The four judges may or may not have noticed the number of written words but obviously felt that Sheldon took a lot of time and effort to put together a video...let alone upload and post the embed code into his post.
We all learn by trial and error here on ActiveRain and we surely have compassion for the ones who DO take the time and effort to put together any post with originality and engage the reader. Sheldon engaged the reader to the fullest extent (IMO) with not only his written words but with his video (spoken words) and I do commend him.
It is with this concern that one brings to our attention that we learn through every contest that we have to be as detailed as possible....we all are human and do err on the side of being human. I will add the video as being an option for X amount of words in my next contest. FOR SURE!  It is with video that shows a real side of the topic.
I've been a little off the grid lately as the spring fresh market has taken up all of Lisa's and my time lately. Will get back into the Rain after I do some business that needs tending too presently.
Hi Sally, Thank you so much for creating such an atmosphere for people to be able to express themselves so wonderfully. Congratulations to all the entries because without all the participation, without the the amazing support of ActiveRain front office and the without difficult work effort by those that judge it, nothing like this would even be possible.
How many of us, before blogging, would have made the effort to express things in writing the way we do today. Book writers, educators have used the written work to inspire, to teach. Today through the efforts of blogging networks like ours, we are each given a change to write in meaningful ways to express ourselves and to learn techniques of communication like nothing that has ever existed before. Our words and thoughts are even memorialized for as long as we might like them to be.
For those that use the opportunity to express our Positive Attitude, we are then rewarded with many gifts. Life's most valuable gifts. The gifts of friendship and the gift of being a part of something that is so worthwhile and uplifting. Being a part of something bigger and more wonderful than even the individuals themselves ( which are pretty awesome already).
Taking the time to allow our most inner self a chance to grow by pulling the best out of what's in us is a totally rewarding experience. Much like athletes use exercise and pumping iron to build their musculature, by each of us exercising our creative mind anchored with a caring soul, those characteristics in each of us grow and become even bigger.
Thanks for allowing me to be a part of the group and for encouraging our writing to be even bigger than we are. The song from Josh Groban that I had dedicated last Mother's day to my mother comes to mind in his inspiring words of " You Raise Me Up To More Than I Can Be.......
Sally,
These winners are fabulous. We had a very tough time deciding! We really had a good dozen that all deserved accolades.
Sheldon's script was hilarious! It took him a great deal of time and effort, talent and script writing to pull that one together!
Laughter is a part of spring. The flowers reach to the sky and laugh and play in the wind. Joy is what it's all about! Thank you for this wonderful contest.
And, thanks to all the entrants that put such talent and thought into their writings! Loved it.
Sally I would think that it was Sheldon's content and and quality that Judges rightly concentrated on.  It would be a disservice to disqualify his post because he did not add 139 of unneeded words.  Yes 500 words was a requirement and if the Judges had noticed that it was not before the contest ended and notified him, he would have had the chance to correct that, but since the Judges did not, the results should stand in my opinion.
By the way in defense of the Judges, if anyone noticed that Sheldon's entry did not have the number of required words prior to the end of the contest, and did not notify them prior to the end of the contest in hopes to disqualify the entry later, then shame on them for doing that.
Hard enough to Judge that many blogs without being a word counter of top of it.
5:53pm • #51
538,365 Points 10 Featured Posts Outside Blog
Just one reason why I stay away from contests that have what I consider "high school" requirements of 500 words. I hope all contests will do away with that requirement and let the content speak for itself. I can see the requirement for at least one graphic, or one video, but 500 words is just inviting complaints for an entry that is too short, even if by one word.
I use the same comparison for coupons. They have expiration dates. You mean you really won't honor this coupon because I'm just one day late? Oh, well. You lost a sale. Bye.
Thanks for all of your work on the contest, Kathy-Ann-Linda-Deb-Sally.
I read all of the winners - all so good!  Silly complaint on Sheldon's win - I am sure he spoke a couple of hundred words in the special video for the contest.
I'm so so behind people!  thank you all for your support of the group, the contest and each other.... this one was a wonderful theme and brought out all the best in all!
William: Thank you so much for thinking of me and a link to the song!  I love when you finally get down and deep...you truly have a story book aura surrounding your words....that give a feeling of peace. Thank you William...for your participation, your friendship and your just being you :)
Russel: And to think we all were looking forward to a grand post from you!  The reason for adjusting to number of words was to discourage entries that had a couple sentences and classified it an entry....with an ad paragraph for content after. Or a few pictures with the ad banner.
to each his own....content surely is the reason for any post...let alone a contest...and if it discourages people I can't help that. One thing is for certain.... I WILL account for video words to knock off some of the written words from now on...it takes dedication, time and effort...not to mention a heck of a lot of being REAL.
thank you for your concerns
Sally--What fun it was reading the entries and then finally writing my own entry.  Thanks to you & others in the group who have encouraged me. A great group of friends as well as fellow AR members.
I still have quite a few to read and will do so as time allows.
Wow!  You received a ton of entries.  I've been out of the rain for a while, so it looks like I have alot of reading to catch up on. ;O)
Hi Sally - thank you for running such a great contest of which I was honored to be a part of and be "honorably mentioned" for my work.  Truly an amazing group and wonderful entries from all.  I agree with you that there needs to be requirements and I for one think Sheldon's entry was top notch and creative and as soon as I saw it, even with my own entry, I thought he should win and so happy he did.  Luckily for me - I'm wordy so I will never have to worry about not meeting the 500 word requirement.  Thank you for running such a great contest and spreading the positive attitude in the Rain! ~Anne Marie
