By now, most folks know the importance of having keywords embedded in their blogs and websites. But how well are these keywords working for you? One simple tool that I use quite frequently for tracking purposes is Google Analytics. This utility has the ability to provide you with a plethora of other search criteria - but this post is on keywords.
I have used Google's Keyword Tool to get ideas as to what are the more popular keywords for my area, but these are great guidelines or blocks to start with. It is up to YOU to track these and then make the necessary adjustments to your blogs or website(s) tags, meta tags, keywords etc to increase your presence on the organic searches. Currently, I am bouncing between the bottom of page 1 and the top of page 2 in the organic searches as I "tweak" my keywords. This is up from a week ago when I was on page 6 and two weeks ago when I was on page 10.
Interestingly, I do track how folks find me and 3 out of the last 4 jobs came directly from the internet. As this market is getting more competitive, it is to all of our advantages to key in on our keywords and learn to adjust...
Wishing all my fellow drips and tweeps a G-r-r-r-reat day... 8-)
