- The City Council voted 9-2 today to approve a tiered water rate
system in response to the state-wide drought that's now into its third
year. The plan, which requires heavy-water-users to pay more than
water-misers, takes effect on June 1. For more information, visit the

- Hollywood residents, please note that the re-surfacing of Sunset
Blvd. between Highland and LaBrea will begin at 8 p.m. TONIGHT and be
completed by 10 a.m. tomorrow. The Citys Bureau of Street Services
mobilized heavy machinery and several crews to accomplish this project
as quickly as possible. Please use alternative routes to avoid delays.
- Please join us for two free events that Tom is co-sponsoring in
Council District 4 parks tomorrow. The East Valley Family YMCAs
Healthy Kids Day will be held 10a-2p in North Hollywood Park. There
will be pet adoptions and free resources for pet owners at the Central
Hollywood Neighborhood Councils Pets in Parks event at the
Hollywood Recreation Center, 1122 Cole Ave. from 11a-3p tomorrow as
well.

- Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Ramon Cortines and
school board Vice President Yolie Flores Aguilar joined Tom as he
reached a 40-year life goal on Thursday morning. Together, they broke
ground on a new track and field for his alma mater, John Marshall High
School in the Franklin Hills.
