Dear Conor
There were times when sleep was but a memory, and all things went into your mouth. I wondered then if I was cut out to be a dad. My ears grew more sensitive to subtle sounds in the night, my sense of smell deadened by noxious diapers and now gym socks that appear in the strangest places. The coughs, colds, bumps and bruises were all part of the growth process.
But Yesterday, I was rewarded...nay blessed with pride for this little man of mine came home with a dream report card. Not just passing sophomore math and English, but straight "A's" in Honor's classes...a 100 average in advanced Algebra, A's in Chemistry, Geometry, Biology, music theory, Spanish and English.
Conor is in the top 2% of his class for academics, while being on three varsity teams, and taking a college class at night in Jazz Guitar. Tuesdays State track meet, he came in first in the long jump and second in the 100 & 200 yard events. At 15 my son's college music Professor asked if it would be alright to have my son in the Jazz Ensemble with his music education majors for the next concert?
This child slept 3 hours a night for the first four years of his life, I thought something was wrong. It turns out he just had a lot on his mind and needed to get it all out. I know Father's day is still 2 months away but I couldn't ask for anything more.
Love Dad.
