Wolfeboro New Hampshire "The Oldest Summer Resort in America"

With spring taking hold I feel blessed to live on the gold coast of Lake Winnipesaukee. This is East Alton, Wolfeboro, Tuftonboro (Mirror Lake & Melvin Village) as well as part of Moultonborough.

It is route 109 on the eastern side of the lake. The westerly views across Winnipesaukee towards the Belknap Mountains in Alton and Gilford are breathtaking especially at sunset. The waterfront real estate, especially in Wolfeboro is some of the best in New England. In fact two years ago French President Nicolas Sarkozy decided to spend two weeks in Wolfeboro. That brought notoriety to the "oldest Summer Resort in America." Not only has Sarkozy spent some time hear, but it is the summer home of former Massachusetts Governor and presidential candidate, Mitt Romney. It was a summer home to Jack Lemmon.  For more information on Wolfeboro, check out this link to my website http://www.lakesregionhomesinfo.com/wolfeboro_nh_real_estate/.

It is the oldest summer resort because the Royal Governor John Wentworth had the first summer retreat in America circa 1760's. The foundation is still off route 109 and has been the site of archeological digs over the years.

Come visit this wonderful town and area in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire this summer. You won't be disappointed.
