I SUBSCRIBE TO THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS WEB SITE which offers updated information for viewers about program changes for Veterans Administration benefits.

Most of the releases are related to health, hospitalization, etc.  From time to time, there will be an announcement about housing, which of course, is my reason for subscribing.

This moring, I received an announcement about something that is particurly heartwarming, especially in view of the recent release of news about the efforts of Homeland Security with respect to identifying "returning vets" as targets of right wing extremists groups.

The Department of Veterans Affairs, OTOH, rather than treat our returning vets as targets of extremists is offering help and resources for returning vets

Interesting.

As part of my relo /real estate package I insert the handbook for VA homebuyers. I love the site...it has also helped me research my son's benefits and getting him into school etc. He can also check on status of his checks and so forth. There are updates that come up constantly...so a great idea to stay subscribed or check frequently :)

I have an uncle who has suffered from the effects of Vietnam, for as long as I can recall. And I know a couple of other vets from previous wars, who should be in the Veteran's Hospital, undergoing life-long psychiatric treatment. And the veteran's hospital is NOT doing what they should for them. So this is fabulous news. I really hope our government is re-evaluating the way they've treated our vets in the past, and I hope they have a drastically different future than what I've seen in the past. Anyone who is willing to lay their life on the line, to fight for US, deserves to be treated like royalty!

Lenn, I am a Viet Nam Vet, but oddly enough I have never been on that website so thanks for the link.  I am going to spend time later checking it out.

Lenn, great information for those of you who work with Vets regularly. Fort Campbell is about 40 miles northwest of Nashville. Since I'm on the south side I don't see a lot of Vets. I'm linking it to a friend who works up there. Hopefully it will help her!
