A Rainy Day, A Cup of Coffee and a Good Post...Ahh Perfect!!

Rainy dayIts raining here in my neck of the woods of Annapolis Maryland and from what I am hearing the forecasters are saying to expect it to continue for another 24 hours. I know we need it but ugh.

Oh well, there went my morning walk. So I headed into the kitchen and put something good and hearty in the crock pot, grabbed a hot cup of coffee and headed to my home office to start my real estate day a little early. As the raindrops fell hard against my office window and Maggie quietly stretched out for a snooze at my feet my fingers drifted off to typing in the Active Rain website. I thought, why not, just a peek to see what is going on, who is blogging about what.

Before I knew it I found myself immersed in the world of Active Rain as I read one great post after another. Stop Martha. Get to work and get to work now. So reluctantly I did. I answered my email, set up a listing appointment, finalized a contract home inspection, followed up on some leads, among many other things. But Active Rain was sitting there in the corner of my computer just waiting for me to come back. By late afternoon it started to call my name once again.

OK its afternoon, it's still raining, it's time for a break and another cup of coffee so why not. So with a fresh cup in hand I headed back to Active Rain.

So why does Active Rain forever call my name and continue to bring me into it's fold? Well here's a few reasons I will share

Mary Yonker's great post about Social Networking or Social Disease. Besides the post being excellently written she earned her very first GOLD STAR. How cool is that

Rebecca Levinson's great post called 7 Easy Breezy Ways to Get Into the Swing Of Push Marketing Your Blog. This was so helpful to me who thinks of herself as still new to 'blogging'. Getting into the swing of marketing my blog is something I need to do!

Rich Iarossi posted one called I Hate When I Make a Rookie Mistake. I had to put my coffee down on this one before I spit it all over everything. F-U-N-N-Y. A much needed laugh on a rainy day.

Then Margaret Woda posted about Taming the Difficult Client.  I have so been there, done that  and it was interesting reading her take on the same.

And Lenn Harley is always a good read and her post on Shopping For A Home Is Just Like Going to The Mall was no different. Her take on things is always refreshing and so darn honest.

Back to WorkI could go on and on. I went through what had to be a hundred posts. No really!. There are so many great posts on events happenings around their neck of the woods, on inspiring thoughts and ideas and of course some beautiful photography and slide shows. It just goes on and on.

It's hard to stay away from Active Rain especially when it is so easy to take a Rainy Day, A Cup of Coffee, and a Good Post and you've made a perfect day.

OK, back to work Martha.

Well here I am back for round three of Active rain for the day. Oh my.

ClaudeMay the sunshine on your business and the crock pot always be full. What a wonderful thing to say. Thank you. Today was one of those days when the crock pot was definitely full and though the sunshine was not shining in the sky it was on my business :)

Linda- Enjoy the posts. I wish I could have mentioned more but the list would have been soooo long that I would have never finished. LOL Enjoy your tea.

Mark- Darn. The forecasters are calling for a pretty weekend here which is fine with me. I'll take a rainy weekday anytime over a weekend. :)

Vickie- Addicted??? Who Me??? Who You??? HaHa. We both know the answer to that one don't we. LOL!

Charles- Now when a man gets lost in AR when fishing was his intent is certainly addicted. LOL. Better luck next time. :)

Mary- You are welcome. It was a well written post and much deserving of a gold star. Congratulations once again.

Rich- As a Mother of 3 and a grandmother of 17 I learned a L-O-N-G time ago to stay upwind of any child 2 years of age or younger. :) Thanks for the much needed rainy day laugh.

Ellie- I will admit I did take a 2nd look at the couch this morning. But its so much easier to work the computer in a sitting position :)

Lenn- You are welcome. it is so like a chat with a good friend. And what better time to catch up with good friends then on a rainy day.

Sally- It is certainly all that you said and more. So much good stuff here for sure.

James- I remember those days too. I would take a book to bed and read myself to sleep. Now it's Active Rain and no sleep. LOL.

Norma- Yep you are right though sometimes I do feel guilty for spending so much time here. Especially like now when I am sooo darn busy. Its a give and take sort of deal and tonite is going to be a long one for sure :)

Kate- Isn't that the truth. Why I even think I can just peek is beyond me but I do over and over again. LOL. Enjoy your rainy evening reading.

Charlene- Gotta love the perks for sure. I just read, in our local paper tonite, about a new traffic pattern being comtemplated here called the 'Michigan U. Seems it originated from your neck of the woods. Sounds confusing. Probably one of those things that is easier to do than explain. :)

Cynthia- Oh no... you too!! LOL. I am sure you will find many more than just these so get comfy. :)

Gary- Thanks. You know when I think of inspiring thoughts you always come to mind. You are the best in that department in my book. :)

Liz- Why thank you. A cool rainy day always seems to bring the crock pot out. And the extra visits to Active Rain!!

You know what I liked about the rain here outside Lynchburg, VA? I liked opening up the windows last night and hearing the rain as I was drifting off to sleep. The thunder was like a rumble off in the distance and it was a great warm Spring night. Love the smell, the drops of the rain under a warm down comforter. Nothing better!

I have to stop myself from spending too much time on active rain and other social networking sites.

Martha:  Wish I'd had the same rainy day as you.  Mine was a cup of coffee, telephone and hold music.  Monday is my day to call banks on my short sale listings.  Ugh!

I am hopelessly addicted to Active Rain. I start the day with AR, AR puts me to bed and I get on anytime I have to spare during the day. Coffee and AR are a perfect combination.

Russ- I know what you mean. the next few days are going to be hectic so I will not be here near as much as today. But that's ok too as I know there will be lots of great reading just waiting for me when I return. And return I will!!

Chris Ann- Ugh is right. maybe tomorrows rain will give you the opportunity. :)

Patricia- Thank you.

Sandy- Oh my... you are addicted! LOL. We are not alone thats for sure :)

Martha, I love hanging out with my AR family.  I do it a lot....perhaps toooo much.  But, like you, I am drawn to it daily.

Martha, AR is my morning companion with my coffee. I have learned so much here, and do love it. I am hoping that there is no down side, LOL.

Great post, and deserves that star!

Living in Phoenix I would love to see a cloudy, overcast, damp, dark, and rainy day - just every once in a while.  There is something that I love about those days growing up in Connecticut.

Crock pots and Active Rain -- a great combo for those Rainy days.  It's reassuring to know that no matter how immersed I become in reading these great, informative and entertaining posts that there will be a din-din ready and waiting!  It's amazing how time flies.

Martha what an excellent post. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and also the links to some other great posts too. My only problem these days is that I rarely have much time to be here. I am not complaining because I am busy at work. Have a good week!

Great post. I have found so many many great posts so far and wonderful information. Definitely enjoying the time I spend learning on active rain. Thanks to all.

Hi Martha,  I just spent two hours on Activer Rain.  I was supposed to help the boys with homework and get ready for tomorrow.  I had forgotten how much fun it is to browse here.  I am probably going to be here a lot more.  It's so edutainment for real estate agents.

Martha - I don't know how many rainy days I've gotten out of bed in the morning, made a cup of tea, and read AR blogs for awhile.  It is a delightful thing to do.  However, we hit 97 degrees in Sacramento today, without a rain drop in sight:-)
