Attention This is a Call to Action! Please contact your Senators and Representatives TODAY and urge them to STOP or DELAY (for at least 12 months) the implementation of the Home Valuation Code of Conduct ("HVCC") which is de facto regulation, forced on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae by New York Attorney General Cuomo.  The file below contains a list of key talking points to bring to the attention of your legislators.

Please contact your legislators today at their in-district offices, as Congress is currently in recess. You can access the contact information for your legislator here. We encourage you to keep trying to contact them if you are not initially successful. It is vital to the overall effectiveness of this call.

Please forward the Call To Action pdf below to your mortgage broker and appraiser contacts.

Head in the sandSara - Unless someone is willing to come forward with a "Stay of Execution" type call (last minute extension) . . . I'm figuring that this WILL go in to effect.    Regardless, most of the ill-effects have already occurred (move to AMC ordering, etc.).

In typical fashion . . . the lender community is waaaay out in front on this issue.  They've been planning and making modifications to their workflow since last Summer.

Appraisers on the other hand have been waiting, with their heads in the sand, hoping that it would just go away.   Our appraisal organizations have done little to prepare  appraisers for the eventuality that it would go into effect.

Brian, you are so right about the appraisal organizations! Funny thing is I jest received an invite to join the BIG ONE, at a 50% discount. WOW Main benefit, discount on their over price CE courses. Instead of fighting it and trying to lobby against it, they just sit there and take it. I personally know of two appraisers, who did not renew their membership, for that reason. The main problem with appraisers, is that most of us work by our selves or in small firms, and we don't ave any large national voice.

And for the record, my prior post was just my frustration coming out, it was in noway a knock on your post. I hope to see more posts from you in the future.

Michael -

I understand your frustration!  I gave up my SRA designation a few years back for reasons probably similar to your friends.   I don't get to post much here on ActiveRain due to my invlolve ment with http://www.AppraisersWaterCooler.com and http://www.AppraisalScoop.com

On the Water Cooler, I've promoted the concept of Appraiser Tribes - http://appraisalscoop.ning.com/group/appraisertribes

The Tribes concept is one where appraisers take control on a local basis . . .maybe county by county, or state by state.  It just takes leadership!
