Something Fishy About Social Networking

This is the naked truth about how social networking works - web 2.0 is here to SELL

#############

So, the other day, I went fishing.  Caught a nice one.  Posted to FaceBook.  within minutes (or days) i had comments from several past clients, friends.  Received email and RFP from prospects.

See the FaceBook Post:  http://www.www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=92328807852&saved#/photo.php?pid=2457735&id=537517852&ref=mf

Next thing you know, a web design client sends an email about the fish.. and OH - BTW:  They need their web site updated...  : )

Today:  A Realtor contacted me via FaceBook Chat:  Tra

Note, no selling took place, but the relationship was strengthened!

That's how web 2.0 works!  Just like the boating club or PTA meeting of old...

The odd thing that I have been seeing over the last several months is people contacting me on Facebook in lieu of email.  Odd............

Yeah! Facebook is where people want to be now rather than email! Personally, speaking, I view my email as a "chore" vs F.B. as "fun". Email is the new voice mail. Something you gotta pick up...

Check out my mentor who is responsible for getting me into F.B. http://SocialMediaTrafficSecret.com

Pardon my ignorance, but I do now know what web 2.0 is. I think, from context, it is the next generation of communication (i.e., twitter, facebook, etc.) Am I correct? If so, then I am so glad to hear that it strengthened your relationship with a friend and/or future prospect. I've got some great stories that are a little bit similar--but no fish were involved.

Social networking is a great way to stay in touch. E-mail is good, but I think social networking sites are a better medium, because both parties are willingly there. What I mean by this is, people generally receive tons of e-mails per day. Your e-mail to a prospective client, past client or whoever could easily be overlooked or deleted with the ton of other e-mails people get. Whereas, on a social networking site, users are generally logged on with the focus on seeing who has contacted them and thus leads to better relationship building.
