When it pours it Rains

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Greater Seattle

First there was the venerable Rain City Guide, then came ActiveRain and now Seattle is getting deluged by the upstart Citizen Rain blog.

Recently launched by King5.com, NBC's Seattle affiliate, Citizen Rain is a local blog aggregator.  Over 100 local blogs are sorted by category providing viewers a straight forward exposure to all things Seattle.  Categories include news, sports, politics, music, scene, outdoors and real estate.  King5.com is the site that's resyndicating my blog for its condo section.

As real estate professionals and bloggers, what's so special about King5.com's entry into the blogisphere?

According to Cory Bergman, Director of Digital Media at King5, "KING 5’s newsroom — which has not been reading local blogs — is also beginning to use Citizen Rain to find fresh story ideas."

And, Joel Burslem of Inman and Future of Real Estate Marketing, in his Inman blog post Local News Goes Hyperlocal about Citizen Rain states "if you're still questioning why you should start your own real estate blog - look no further. Mainstream media is looking for ways to capitalize on this new medium and could be looking for you to help."

Get out your raincoats, cause it looks like Rain.

Ben

Thanks for the heads up. I just submitted my blog, but their instructions ask for WESTERN Washington blogs and my location just EAST of the crest (Leavenworth) is what keeps sending the buyers my way. We'll see if they can make an exception.

That is so cool. The local paper has laid off 400 employees in Ann Arbor and the paper is shrinking in size. I know one of the editors there, I sold his house a few years ago. I think I'll email this to him.

Thanks for the head's up Ben.

Here in the Vancouver/Portland market I'll check and see if KING5's sister station KGW (or NWCN) will be doing a similar effort in our community.  We're the "Gray Capitol" of the country, and you Seattleites have the lock on the "Rain" championship (unless you are from Forks, WA!!!).
