NOW, don't get me wrong-----progress is a good thing,
infrastructure improvement is a Better thing
completion is the BEST thing.
Around Macomb County, North of M.-59 [ Hall Road to locals ]
We have many examples of much needed work in various stages of development.
....a. Romeo Plank road N. & S. of M-59---widening project is looking good; cement actually
poured, smoothed, & curing on one side.
easier driving prospect ahead.....
One question though. 'what will happen when multi-lane pavement reverts back to;
2-lane- 1 per direction- N. of 22 mi rd. where the S curved road way exists.?
This is a good thing, with further promise for the future I hope, as Romeo Plank has turned
into a major N. / S. roadway. Fascinating, considering the history of this road that actually
started it's existence as a Plank-laid passage way for travel N. & S.
What do you think the developers, designers, & producers of that road would observe
as / or if they look down from above? [ I believe this is possible ]
....b. 26 mile rd / Van Dyke M-53 Bridge work is well underway. Though it is compiling driving
difficulties for those who live or travel in that area, any and all improvements are necessary
& will ease traffic problems for the entire area. Local shopping can still be reached by using
N. & S. [old] Van Dyke rd. & 26 mile W. The completion is slated for Fall 2009
....c. How often have you come to an intersection on a widely traveled local road only to discover
that no or only one way Left-turn lights had been installed? Do you ever mumble the cynical
words,...'well, I guess no one important has been injured [or worse] at this corner...'?
Now, those of you who drive along Garfield or Hayes N. of Hall-M-59, have reason to rejoice
Garfield & 21 mi. Rd we can see installed [not as yet positioned or working ??] Left turn lights
for drivers both on Garfield North to 21mi. West & Garfield South to 21 East. This is so needed and once working, will make
the area safer for drivers & pedestrians.
Why it is taking so long for the lights to be dropped into place and working boggles the
mind, but they are there and soon hopefully, they will be functioning.
....d. Hayes and 22 mi.rd. has had working left-turn signals in place since late winter. What a
difference that has made for the drivers and businesses in the area. The only problem I
have witnessed is that a "pedestrian-activated signal Button" was installed along with the
computer-based traffic lights.
Why a problem, you may ask ?--there is a child care or
after school care place in the area & when 'walking trips' are on the schedule, the kids take
turns seeing how many times they can 'push the button' without adult intervention on the
scene.
Macomb County is a great place to live. work, or visit;
