Many Realtors get caught up into a strategy of doing something "new" in order to generate more business.  It sounds more fun and exciting to implement a new strategy - however, it might be a better strategy to do something you already do - only do it better.

For example, take for example Craigslist, you already post your listings to Craigslist, but at what frequency do you refresh the posting so it is not 100 postings from the top?   When you post to Craigslist are you using the standard template or do you use an enhanced template like v-flyer?  Sometimes a slight change can net you more results without having to recreate the wheel.

Thanks,

Totally agree ... taking something that is already go in results and taking it to great.  If you get positive results from a mailout, then pick up another area to send it to or work that area with results consistent and well.  Great post to head us in the right frame of mind.

Excellent one. You are absolutely right. I think While you are planning to do something new , try doing the things you are doing already better. Don't you agree ?

Great point.  It may be "old and tired" to us, but it is often new to our potential audience.  It often pays to simply keep and improve what works.

Hi David,  I totally agree with your premise. Agents are so eager to try the latest fad but many are not willing to  do the hard work to make something work!

Exactly right....I have a few things that I do consistantly...and work to do better. AR, Zillow and Trulia...then I can branch out once I get those done. I'm also trying to Twitter...but I really find it more annoying.

I have made jokes about this in the past.  Many want to find that magical weight loss pill.  It all goes back to basics of doing what works no matter what a pain in the neck it is to do.  "Well, I am not getting as many results from open houses"  DO MORE OPEN HOUSES!.  Do what has worked, but do more of it rather than taking a risk of trying an unknown that will take your time from doing what you know what works.

Great post.........

I have a voice in my head that says, "Back to Basics!", "Call your SOI." These things work. This is not really a house business, It's a people business. We need to talk to people to get the business.

Nice post.  I like to spice things up, check Google analytics and see if it is working, adjust and start all over.

I agree with what you say.  I have not inhanced my listings on craigslist.  Does it cost more money when you do this?  I am trying to maximize my marketing dollars and am about at the limit right now.  I wish you the best.

David, I also totally agree with you! A slight change and consistency help a lot; and sometimes that is all that is needed.

David, putting your own touch on something that is proven is definitely a thought. Many Realtors send a closing gift to a buyer; a door knocker, a picture frame, a gift card... Why not send a personalized coffee mug that says "David Is My Realtor." Something new on a old idea!

Great post. It makes us look inward at what we are currently doing, and how we can improve on what we have made routine.
