Many people try to understand the second largest economy--the China market, one of the few market economies left in the world.

At Crebbers, we understand and know both the US and China economy. We keep track of all the latest trend in both countries.

The auto industry has been a mess here in the US. According to Xinhua News Agency, in the first quarter of 2009. 2.68 Million of cars were sold. In March 2009 alone, 1.11 Million were sold which makes China the biggest auto market in the world.

In the Shanghai Auto Expo today, a new concept car debuted by Geely Auto (China) inc. The car only costs $1400 to make!

Update: this car could be powered by either rechargible battery or Solar energy.. To my understanding, one congressman has already bought the exclusive right to re-assemble this model in the US and it DOES meet US safety standard.

They are building them smaller and smaller, aren't they?  Looks sort of like a Volkswagon Bug.  But you can't beat $1400 to build it.  I wonder what's the deal with those hydro cars that I heard so much talk about last year.  They were supposed to start rolling out this year.

I'm guessing that by the time you upgrade that car to meet US safety specifications, it's going to cost quite a bit more than $1400. But even a $10,000 car would be outstanding!

As is commented above, the US standards will increase that cost dramatically....but still.  In reality gas prices are going to have to go up either through the free market or taxation for cars like this to be a reality in numbers in this country.  I get 16 miles to the gallon and don't care as I only work listings.  If gas prices were to double, I would care.  Hope a sign can fit in it..........

Just shows that autos can be rethought. I am also waiting to hear more about the hydro car thing. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

Huiting, of course by the time it gets here it will be $14,000.00 dollars because of taxes.

Fred, as far as I know. It wows everybody, including GM, Buffet, a few congressmen (they are working on a factory here in the US now).

Karen, it looks a little scary. But again, it is not for everybody. I think it would be a nice car for busy city people, just like the SMART.

Suma, from various reports, I draw the conclusion that it is better than the TATA Nano.

Karen S, as it is powered by either battery or solar energy, I also see a big future for this car.

Kathy, I also wonder when we will be to able to see a hydro one in the market.

Tim B, I just updated, it meets US standard and as a matter of fact, I know one congressman is working with a few investor to assemble it here.

Tim M, See my above comments, it meets most US standards already.

Andrea, yes. I am also excited about the hydro car.

Kevin, yes, tax is going to be a big issue. I am not sure what the congress are thinking about it. But I know one congressman is working with a few investors to build a factory already. They must have done that the math for it.

And, when that congressman brings it to the US, the price will be alot higher and he or she will line his or her pockets with money from the inflated price!  Neat car though!

Looks smaller than the Scion and the Cooper. Not for me. Does it cost only $1,400 to make because Chinese people are making it, earning a few dollars a week while $1,300 goes to their government?
