Worthington dok1 s photo of the New England Inn in the 1930s

Really this is a picture of Old Worthington. Not 1803 old... Worthington was established in 1803. When were camera's invented?  The photo is from the 1930's. Don O'Brien  dok1 on Flickr who grew up in Worthington shared it on Flickr (with a Creative Commons license that allows me to use the photo here.)

If you want to see some great old, Old Worthington photos go to dok1's Worthington Streets series.  It's fun to picture the streets now and what it looks liked then.  I would assume High Street was narrower?  It is not a brick road anymore.  In his remarks about the photo Mr. O'Brien says the street car tracks had been removed from High St.  Can you imagine a street car on High St. in Worthington.  Wow.

Not Old Worthington

Last Wednesday I made a picture of the Marcus Cinema at Crosswoods look old, by making my 2009 photo into a black and white.  Fooled some people...  I just thought the art deco details would stand out more if I made the digital photo black and white.   No deception was intended.

Crosswoods Marcus Cinema There was no Interstate 270 in 1930.  I would assume the Crosswoods area would have been farmland  Who knows? The Crosswoods area would have been something different than it is today anyway.  The Crosswoods area would not have been in the City of Columbus.

The Old Worthington neighborhood

The photo is of the New England Inn on the corner of New England Avenue and High Street in Worthington.  The Worthington Inn is on the corner of New England and High Street today.   It looks a little different today... I've share my photos of it previously.

I love history.  Worthington is full of it.

Worthington's Ancient History

Worthington and Parts Adjacent

A New England Village in Central Ohio - there's a photo of the Worthington Inn a few years ago. Wonder what that would look like in black and white?

The Worthington Inn was recently converted to condominiums.
