OK, today, I'm posting a little motivation. I figure, in this more difficult market, motivation is something we all can use. One of the things I like best about blogging is it gives me the opportunity to write about what's on my mind. Sometimes it's very light hearted and sometimes it can be very intense and disturbing. But whatever it is I find it to be very freeing to put my thoughts out there for the world to read. So here goes.

I've always been kind of a "lone wolf" in my business and my life for that matter. I'm not a conformist and never have been. I seem to have a need to do things my way. Needless to say, this caused me a few problems when growing up but I also think it's one of the main reasons I have been successful. Even though, moving forward created problems, I was always able to solve them. And that's how you build confidence. Being a "go getter" and staying focused has always been my strong points. I move forward no matter what.

But is that a bad thing? For me, I think you can over think things. If I waited for things to be perfect, before I acted, I would spend most of my time waiting. I just can't do that. It's not in my nature. I prefer to move forward and solve the problems if they come up.

"Broker Bryant, what does any of this have to do with Real Estate?" Well, that's a good question. I guess you could relate it to Real Estate by making a choice today to move forward. Just do it. Don't worry about things or over think them. Get into the game. Do you have a marketing plan you've been wanting to implement but have been waiting for the "right time"? Well, the right time is now. Your next listing or your next Buyer is out there waiting for you.

Have you been putting off getting your GRI or your CRS? Well go for it. The right time is now. Before you go to bed tonight make the decision to get into your business. Do the things you have been procrastinating about. Make a decision to be successful in spite of this difficult market. Don't listen to the naysayers. They're wrong. Get out of bed tomorrow and start moving forward. Go find that new listing or that new Buyer. I can assure you they are out there. If you don't go get them somebody else will.

My goal is and always has been to do something related to my business everyday. Everyday, I move forward. And not only do I move forward but I do the one thing that will always give me a return. I solicit business. My job is to get business. Listings, in my case. If I work towards this one goal, everyday, everything else will take care of itself. I can't concern myself with the market being difficult and Buyers being hard to come by. If I spent time worrying about these things it would make staying positive and moving forward, too difficult. I've been in this business long enough to know that if I have enough inventory, I will sell some houses. I can't sell them all, but if I have 25 to 30 listings, I can still sell 2 or 3 this month and the next month and the next month. I can keep moving forward.

I look at my business as being a "house store". I must keep the shelves, in my store, stocked with inventory. And it has to be inventory that is priced right, clean and has variety to it. I am trying to attract Buyers. So the more I have to offer the better chance I have of Buyers finding my store and making a purchase. And that is my ultimate goal.

So there you have it. Broker Bryant's Real Estate Ramblings for today. Did it make sense? Did it motivate you? Are you ready to move forward? I am. I'm sorry.....I didn't hear you. I've already moved forward. You've got to be a little quicker than that.

Blog Boy...

You have me laughing on line with this one. I think everyone here knows you move forward at the 'speed of light'. Sometimes you move forward so fast that all I can see is the dust you left behind.

That being said will please remind to hold on tight right now? Hello? Did I say that fast enough? SVW.

Bryant, I really  like your style.  I always say that you have to be in the game to have a chance at winning.  As you're playing, opportunities present themselves.  Just have to have faith that you'll be able to figure out the  details as you go.

I love the book, "The Power of Now".  The only thing you have control of is what you are doing NOW.  Everything else is just thoughts in your head and nothing to fear because it isn't real.

BB,

Funny you mention that...when it started to slow down I started wit my CRS and only have one left to complete...its been sitting on the sidelines just waiting to be finished..but with all the other things going on I never got to it..I want to be focused to finish and finish strong..hopefully I can put all aside and finish it and my CRS will be done. Hey maybe i might get the GRI next! I have been contemplating this fir a while and after 11 yrs my manager encouraged me to take it.

Hey Blogger Boy,

Talking about "perfect". We live in an imperfect world. That's the reality. And, so many of us use any excuse to just stay in place.

The other thing, I think, is that we're the "problem solvers." We can either contribute to the problem, or try to solve it. Our choice. But, believe me, by solving problems we're guaranteed to stay in business.

Yay, Motivational Guru Broker Bryant!!  We DO need some motivation these days.  I especially like your advice to keep moving forward, not to wait for perfection.  I prefer constant tinkering, myself.  Perfect would be boring.

Just noticed you'd changed your poll.  I need the hard copy so I can highlight and put my little sticky tags all over it.  Your book would be so good, I'd show my appreciation with so much highlighter it would be like graffiti!

Ok Sarah, Did you know one of my biggest pet peeves is writing in books? TLW does it and it drives me crazy. I guess when I throw one out there I'll have to get over that:) Maybe I can print it on whiteboard.

Blog Boy...

Okay. I saw the poll. I swear I didn't do that. Ask Sarah if she did it? SVW.

I voted for the hard copy so I could watch you go crazy when I turn the book into graffiti. LOL.

Broker Bryant...What a great post.  I am also one not to wait around for things to be right, after all someone has to go first, right?  I rather it be me, and reap the benefits.  I dont like a "truly" normal routine, I need to add some spice to my marketing and have fun with it.  You motivatre with every post you write, so thanks again!

I learned to take things as they come...staying positive. If I sit there and worry about it toooo much....or try to force things to come it doesn't.  Like today....got a call from another agent who referred a buyer....you know why?  I sat and blogged for a few days without worrying about the one closing and wondering where the next one will come from.....anyway, you always have a great way of putting things....I think I responded to one of your comments on mine but doubt you saw that so here goes....you and TLW write deep...get into stuff really deep....regardless if it's about real estate or the arse...hahahahaha!

Geez.  Sometimes I believe we were separated at birth.

I love the work I do and if there is a work-a-holic, it is I.

Folks are always asking me, "When are you going to take a vacation, Lenn?".

I tell them that every day is a vacation to me.  "But, when are you going to take a trip somewhere?".

Well, WHEN I WANT TO, I tell them.  Sometime every year, several agents would come back from a vacation 2-3 weeks and declare: "I'm back and I'm broke."  Send me some business.  Of course, they have to start all over.

I like the idea of the HOUSE STORE.

They just don't get it.

Certainly makes sense and we all can benefit from trying to keep a positive perspective on this market . Many agents will allow dust to settle on their "shelves" or neglect their inventory because they become disorganized in a slow market. This is the time to hop on that positive train and "stock up and be prepared " for upcoming buyers.

I really liked the "house store" concept.  I think we underutilize our office's inventory fairly often.  I've been thinking about adding the hot listings from my fellow agents to my website in the featured listings pages, which I normally reserve for my personal listings.  It gets a lot of hits and I thought I'd get more leads by expanding my "inventory".  Thanks for the tip!

I like the analogy of an "in-house store."  The contracts in a brokers file desk, whether they be seller or buyer representation are our inventory.  No contracts...no deals..no business!  Thanks for this reminder & just plain good business advice.

Hey, does BB stand for Blog Boy or Broker Bryant? hehe. Anyway, GREAT POST, but I expect no less from you. It's funny that you addressed this because I was just thinking about some of the same things today. As you know, I've made a few changes in direction to my marketing lately and I'm excited about it. By nature, thanks to my Mother, I tend to want to procrastinate when it comes to implementing new things, but I've really fought that natural side of myself the past couple of years and have found some amazing confidence in myself. I've realized that if I just get out and do what's on my mind, rather than thinking and planning so much, everything usually just falls into place and I have great success at those things. That's also helped my confidence. Thanks for a great post and all your help BB.
