"24" Season 6 Finale

Well, last night was the final 2-hour Season 6 finale for Jack Bauer and "24"

It's almost felt like the end of NFL season and no more Monday Night Football. Or the way you feel after the NCAA Basketball Tournament is over. There's this big empty hole in your life.

So how did this finale stack up against the previous seasons? Let's take a little walk down memory lane:

Well, as you may recall, Season 5 ended all nice and sweet, with Jack and Audrey hugging and kissing. All was right with the world. And then, faster than you can say 'Kung Pao Chicken,' Jack is shanghai'ed to China!

Season 4 finished with Jack being raised up from the dead, and walking off into the sunset to start a new life.

Season 3 concluded with Jack sitting in his government issue SUV and crying. They had to use a stand-in double, because as everyone knows, Jack Bauer never cries!

The cliff-hanging climax of Season 2 left us with President Palmer getting 'palmed.'

And who could ever forget the shocking conclusion of Season 1? Jack's wife, Teri, gets whacked by Nina, the operative everyone loves to hate!

In light of the previous seasons, I would have to say that this one kind of fizzled out in comparison. Jack is left standing on a steep cliff overlooking the ocean, with the gun still in his hand. What's up with that? Will it be the quick shot to the head, or the fateful jump to the pounding surf below? Or was he simply contemplating his next career move?

There were a couple of nice side-notes though:

Chloe is pregnant. Way to go, Morris! (Is it just me, or do you have a hard time envisioning Chloe being intimate with anyone?)

Karen and Bill Buchanan are awarded their 'Get-out-of-Jail-Free' cards, courtesy of Tom Lennox.

Josh is reunited with his mother.

And Cheng, sporting his new face-lift, is carried off into custody (Of course, our folks would never torture him like they did Jack back in China. Perhaps they'll just use 'Enhanced' interrogation techniques?)

So where do you think this leaves us with Season 7?

Maybe Mr. Silver Spoons (Ricky Schroder) comes back with his own series (in a Mike Longstreet makeover) as a blind investigative agent? Or perhaps Chloe and Morris do a reality TV show on how to balance having a baby with fighting terrorists?

Personally, I think it's absolutely AMAZING that we went an entire season without Kim Bauer getting kidnapped!

It's gonna be a long, long time until next January!

The finale had some good moments, but I agree, the ending did fizzle out.  I thought Ricky was being set up to be the next Jack, but after the explosion to the face...I guess not!  I did like seeing Bill run around with a vest and a gun like it was something he did everyday!  Oh...and are you sure Morris is the father!?!?

Ravi - my wife was very quick to remind me that this season opened up with Morris and Chloe being rather 'friendly' although I didn't quite remember that!

Well, I must say I was very disappointed in the last 20 minutes. I thought they did a poor job of finishing this season. I did love the dramatics of the Bomb squad heading in and Jack and Bill trying to get to the oil platform in time.

Too bad the grandson didn't put a bullet in grand dads head.

The best line of the series was from Cheng when he said "My people will not abandon me like you abandoned Jack Bauer," That was a classic and let's me believe season 7 could be fun.

A lot of uanswered questions for me.

What ever hapened to Sandra Palmers friend in the concentration camp. I thought I had heard Kim Bauer was supposed to make an appearance. How is Wayne Palmer doing?

The minute Chloe fell my wife said I'll bet she's pregnant. Chloe and Milo were close at one time too in the beginning of the day weren't they. Wasn't Morris jealous of Milo?

It's still a great show and I love all the twists and turns it has. Sometimes you just never know who to trust.

Considering I haven't seen the finale yet, I have to tell you, this post tells me nothing about it.  Does Philip get killed?  Does he get away?  Do they get the componant back?  Is Josh really Jack's son?  Is Audrey still in a psychotic state?

No, Chloe and Milo were not close during this day.  They had previously dated before she and Morris started dating again.  How could she be pregnant and work 24 hours?  She would have needed a nap!  Believe me, I now know!  One more week until second trimester and lots more energy!!

We're going to try to watch tonight.  I'll post more comments once I see it.

This is the first season my wife & I decided to watch it real time, we usually wait for it on DVD then watch it straight through...I know...crazy, that's why we tried it this way, frankly I don't know how people do it, waiting week after week to see what happens. Not again!

That being said, I was sorely disappointed in this whole season. Most of it was very predictable I thought. However, it was still good theatre, but it got a little overboard with the numerous enemies: Middle East Terrorists, the Russians, Middle East Terrorists, the Chinese, the Russians, Philip Bauer, Audry's Dad.

Truthfully, most of these enemy changes didn't bother me so much as the last bit with the Russians wanting to attack America. I would've pushed the Red Button while the Russian Pres was threatening me. Their "reason" to attack us was because a component from a bomb that THEIR GENERALS snuck into OUR COUNTRY got stolen by the Chinese.

I was like, wait, you're blaming me because your General's and Ambassador snuck a bomb into our country and a component was recovered by the Chinese. Hmmm, now that I think about it, didn't one of those RUSSIAN BOMBS, snuck in by RUSSIANS go off in Cali? Oh that's right, it did....PUSH...CABOOM.

Personally, I think the most redeeming quality of Season 6 was in the opening episode, when Jack bit the guys neck. Classic Bauer!

CHloe says, "I'm pregnant."  Morris says, "Like, with Child?"  LOL!!  That was hilarious!!

My husband finally came back in town long enough to sit through the 2 hours (1.5 since there were no commercials).  It would have been nice if they gave some ending to Palmer and his sister and the boyfriend.  Where's Jack going to run off to?  Ricky can't come back next season because he's blind in one eye, possibly both.

I still can't believe Nadia was left in charge.  She is not capable of making decisions that need to be made.  And it was good to hear VP Daniels admit that he kept making the wrong decisions and should have listened to others.

Overall, the season moved a little slow, but still looking forward to next year!

WOW!  My daughter saw your blog and thinks you are absolutely a genious of making this blog site.  Our family is hooked on 24 and go through withdrawal after the season ends.

How do you find time for TV when blogging? Unless it is a big game, i haven't found time for TV.

TV is easy when you can pause it as many times as you need in order to watch it.  Sometimes, I take 3-4 hours to watch one 1 hour show.  Other times, I can watch that 1 hour show in about 30 minutes. DVRs are great!
