So, you probably already know that I am pretty new to the blogging scene. And, I've noticed that many of the comments include Internet acronyms (I guess that is what they are called)--you know, chat or instant messaging language.
About a month ago, I finally realized that lol means laugh out loud and NOT lots of love (yes, you can lol now). Since many of your comments include this kind of language, I decided to brush up. Here are two links:
I must say that there are far too many acronyms to remember (hundreds, in fact). So, here are (in my mind) the most useful:
- fyi = for your information
- diy = do it yourself
- tyl = talk to you later
- lol = laugh out loud
- u = you
- ur = your
- c = see
- cya = see you (see ya) and NOT cover your a%^
I'm not sure what happened to writing in complete sentences and using plain ol' English. But, if our lives now require us to express complete thoughts in 140 characters or less (twitter), then I think that we will probably all need to brush up on the web slang.
