On a beautiful spring day in downtown San Diego's Little Italy, San Diego came out en masse to celebrate today's of art, entertainment and musical dance, San Diego's style.

The main street of Little Italy, India Street, was blocked off for pedestrian traffic with four intersecting streets, used primarily for the artists display. All local restaurants were serving specialty fares, featuring alfresco dining for the much enjoy people watching.

The artworks, consisted of sculptures, realistic oils and watercolors even to include the brightly colored pop art which is always to look at, though I seriously doubt I would want to own it. There was an enormous amount of photographic art of the local architecture, city scenes, Balboa park and the famous San Diego sunsets out over the ocean.

San Diego has become a mecca for artists from around the world as they seek to tap into the generosity and good case of San Diego Art lovers and collectors.

There were six stage areas, providing some very sophisticated entertainment from Somba dance lessons, contemporary guitar, rock bands and cultural exhibitions.

Our ART Walk ias just one of the many events that take us through the spring, summer and fall months. I'll be bringing you many more of these events as the "San Diego Happenings" throughout the year.

What fin, William. I love LIttle Italy. Just couldn't get there today along with buyers and some other obligations here in North County (and visits to some artsy places myself). Thanks for sharing this. We are seeing so much more artwork andmany art festivals in San Diego - I love it.

Hi William-That was really cool. I love going to things like that. Truly a spectacular sight and it certainly looked HUGE. Loved the slideshow. Hope you have a great Sunday. That butterfly postcard looked great even with a couple little typos. <SMILE>

William,

Should be a nice event. they started doing it here on Beach St, and it is getting better and better. I still think that Mount Dora, and, of course, St. Augustine have bigger events.

Hi Jeff, Over the last couple years, I have also noticed it. Is San Diego wanting to become the cultural mecca for art. Perhaps wanting to compete with Orange county. They would have a ways to go but I like the idea of the effort being made.

Thanks Sharon, I am also looking in to flash sideshows as a viable tool for these presentations. Thanks for the compliment. Much appreciated

Hi Gary, It was a marvelous event and as Jeff noted, just one of many many shows around the county. They are on the increase and it interests me over the longer term that we might end up with some huge shows that last for weeks as they do at the Sawgrass Festival, Pagent of the Arts , etc in Ornage connty. They are amazing shows and very large with permanent quarters. Laguna has always been known for its art attraction and San Diego seems to be in the hunt for similar recognition.

Hi Jon, Daytona would be a natural area for this type of thing. It already draws huge crowds of beach goers and they would come from all areas. Fla is an easy navigation state serviced by long freeways and turnpike. It is easy to get from one community to annother.

Hi Teri, Indeed there are and all over Southern California. I think the weather and the natural attributes of the topography make it a natural area to attract artists.

Hi Lynda, I get that you come down to San Diego a good bit. You have referenced it on several occasions and I think it is wonderful. Kind of a home away from home. Much like the desert area is.
