One of the things that attracted me to San Diego back in 1988 was the natural beauty of the area. Running through the heart of the City of San Diego -- Mission Valley -- is the
Since my office is in Mission Valley, and my farming area encompasses forty condominium complexes in Mission Valley, I often have the opportunity to take a walk along the river.
The San Diego River is only 62 miles long, and for about 55 miles it is nothing but a little creek, sometimes even going underground and disappearing. The other day I was out in East County, about 15 miles from where the previous pictures were taken, where the San Diego River is not quite as wide and watery. I can't believe you're over here in my blog after disparaging Russel in your blog by telling him he was wrong! LOL He's laughing, too. He said to tell you that "He will be baaaaaaaaaaack!"
Hey Jim - Anyone who has lived in San Diego for any length of time knows that river can get pretty nasty at times. I remember the golf course and all the southern entraces to Mission Valley Mall being flooded.
When they expanded Fashion Valley Mall, they built huge parking garages along the river, so now when it floods, it floods the bottom of the parking garage and they have to close the rear entrances to the mall. Not only that, but they built the coolest Trolley/bus station at the mall. Guess where they put them? Yep. Along the river. It's very beautiful, but when it floods, busses get routed elsewhere and it makes it very, very difficult to get to the Trolley station. It's not like it just floods, either. That's a flood plain, and when the River flows, she flows. Fast.
