The book I'm reading right now is title "Planet Cat: A Cat-alog," compiled by Sandra Choron, Harry Choron, and Arden Moore. It's 405 pages packed full of everything you wanted to know -- and some things you don't want to know -- about our furry feline friends.
For those of you with little doggies, there is a companion book, also by Sandra and Harry Choron, titled "Planet Dog: A Doglopedia."
For Alan May, there's a book by Sandra Choron and Bob Oskam titled "Elvis: The Last Word." LOL
Arden Moore is a well-respected author on cats and dogs, so check out his body of work also, such as "50 Simple Ways to Pamper Your Cat" and "50 Simple Ways to Pamper Your Dog."
Zoey the Cool Cat has been reading "Planet Cat" with me (see picture at right), and following are some of her favorite quotes so far:
- I have an Egyptian cat. He leaves a pyramid in every room - Rodney Dangerfield
- To err is human, to purr is feline - Robert Byrne
- I love my cats because I love my home, and little by little they become its visible soul - Jean Cocteau
- The clever cat eats cheese and breathes down rat holes with baited breath - W. C. Fields
- How we behave toward cats here below determines our status in Heaven - Robert Heinlein
Cats, as a class, have never completely got over the snootiness caused by the fact that in ancient Egypt they were worshipped as gods. This makes them prone to set themselves up as critics and censors of the frail and erring human beings whose lot they share - P. G. Wodehouse
- A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere - Groucho Marx
- My husband said it was him or the cat.... I miss him sometimes - Unknown
- If animals could speak, the dog would be a blundering outspoken fellow, but the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much - Mark Twain
- Whether they be the musician cats in my band or the real cats of the world, they all got style - Ray Charles
The problem with cats is that they get the same exact look whether they see a moth or an axe murderer - Paula Poundstone
- A cat can look at a king, but a dictator can seldom bear that look - Proverb
- Cats are like Baptists. You know they raise hell, but you can never catch them at it - James Patterson
- If happiness is a warm dog, is sadness a cold cat? - Siria Gamez (age 12, Miami)
- I love cats. I even think we have one at home - Edward L. Burlingame
- The cat who doesn't act finicky loses control of his humans - Morris
The cat does not offer services. The cat offers itself. Of course he wants care and shelter. You don't buy love for nothing. Like all pure creatures, cats are practical - William S. Burroughs
- Everything I know I learned from my cat: When you're hungry, eat. When you're tired, nap in a sunbeam. When you go to the vet's, pee on your owner - Gary Smith
- By associating with the cat, one only risks becoming richer - Colette
- Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea - Robert Heinlein

Jim, I like number 6 the best...I wonder if that is really true about the snootiness? It seems like it could be!
