Are your Twitter tweets redundant?

Had a great meetup with Dustin Luther at Hennessey's in Hermosa Beach. He said he often is asked the question "Why doesn't ARDELL follow me on Twitter? Is it because I am not an interesting follow?"

There are so many people who blog on Active Rain that I would like to follow, but I find the redundancy so annoying.

Just posted on ActiveRain:

I expect that's an autofeed, but if you follow 100 people or more who blog on ActiveRain, the redundacy of "Just posted on ActiveRain" grows exponentially to the point where my whole screen is filled with "Just Posted on ActiveRain" tweets.

Sometimes "less is best" and posting your best stuff to Twitter, instead of every single post, and remembering to actually TALK to people on Twitter, will put the "social" back into Social Media.

Until then...I must admit...sometimes I hit "unfollow" the minute I see "Just Posted to ActiveRain". Not because I don't like the people who blog here...but because the redundancy drives me up the wall and pushes me away.

Not that you should necessarily care what I think... but passing that on FWIW regarding others who may feel the same way.

Oh true....I'm really finding Twitter annoying and I'm not interesting to follow...but that being said, my auto feed have gotten me a guest blog spot on the Orange County Register and a featured blog spot on Trulia because the content did appeal to the people who it should appeal to. I'm not sure if the consumer is seeing my tweets as interesting, but I get exposure from those in a position to give me TONS of exposure...so that's good.

Yes well I don't have to worry about being that popular either..;-) And I guess it will appeal who it will appeal to - and won't to who it won't.........I think Paredo had something to say about that..:-)

Ardell, I know what you mean. Yet, I keep jumping on just about every social media bandwagon to get out there in front as many people as possible. I haven't had the leads from active rain or twitter yet I was hopeing for, but I keep trying. :)

Well you certainly answered the "how's that working for you" with a valid response. Everyone uses and responds to Social Media differently. Congrats on the parlay to...

Honestly I just find it harder to use Twitter when I follow too many people, and so many that it becomes a scrolling mess... Just haven't found the right Twitter app for me for sorting.

I think Social Media works better in some locales vs. others. It definitely is a hot topic these days. Oprah and Larry King just jumped on to Twitter...so it clearly is in the beginning stages for many.

I am @ARDELLd on Twitter. Larry King is @kingsthings and Oprah is...of course, @Oprah. Im surprised no one had taken her name just for the heck of it before now. They must have saved it for her. I was also surprised mine was already taken, casing me to have to add the d.

Sp far I have not gone to twitter. Everyone is raving and twittering about it, but I feel like I have almost too much to keep track of now.

Just take off the auto feed and manually do the post link. Aut-feeds are so NOT! Like auto DMs on Twitter saying "thanks for the follow", "thanks for the follow", "thanks for the follow".

If it's "auto"...it's not really "social".

I tried to get Dustin to do a session on How to get ARDELL to follow at REBar Camp PHX but he insisted on selling luggage to spohisticated women on the prowl. Go figure.

I have a twitter account but rarely go there to post anything. I personally don't see it as a benefit to me but I have nothing against it if it works for you. I still can't figure out how many follow me and why they would. I barely have time right now to blog let a lone tweet. You can do the same on Facebook.

It figures...right after I left you this comment...I received another person is now following me.:)

I always notice you wherever you may be...not sure why that is. I think there's a lesson on avatars in that.

Everytime I go to Facebook I get sucked in to another "application". The last one I did started a chat room on my iPhone at the end. YIKES!

Ardell: I got sucked into an app on Facebook and like a dummy put in my number.....and I had to call my cell phone co to block them from charging me every month!

The one I did had an immediate STOP text message option.

What sucks me in is it comes into my box as if one of my trusted friends asked me to participate...when it's probably just an auto-bot doing that.

Hi there ARDELL, long time no see. I get 2 to 3 "follow" notifications a day and I have only been over to twitted a couple of times!! I did have m AR posts going there for a couple of weeks but fgured out very quickly that is was rude. So I stopped. Like Neal I have no time for Twitted.

I'm loving watching Larry King get started on Twitter. He's taken to it like a fish takes to water. Works well for some...not so well for others, I guess. I LOVE it!

Is there a reason you are calling it "twitted" instead of twitter?

I am now following Broker Bryant and Neal Bloom, but I'm going to drop Neal if he doesn't get an avatar up and I'm going to drop BB if he doesn't get that gray on black color scheme out of his profile. I'll give you both a week to get your act together guys. :)

I typed the last comment from my iPhone and for some reason it keeps auto populating twitted!!!

You may be following me but soon you will realize I am not going anywhere. I haven't been over to Twitter in a long time.

If it's "auto"...it's not really "social". That's so true. It's tempting to use these social channels for marketing and I'm guilty of it, but it's not designed for that and doesn't bring a great return.

I also am tired of redundant tweets. Maybe it's a little difficult to do something different, but for those you do, you are appreciaited.
