Open House flags are becoming more popular.

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Centre Realtors

I have been thinking of getting Open House flags as they are more environmentally friendly. It will also save me a lot of time on weekends as I do not have to get balloons. It will be less expensive in the long run.

I have seen some agents in our area use flags and I went to an open house this weekend and spoke to the agent. It seems their office ordered in bulk so they got a good price.

I am going to order flags soon but want to use some this weekend so I am going to make my own flags.

I have some material and stickers from the dollar store and will make some flags toda. If they look good I might just use my own flags .

Gita, we were talking about flags in our office the other day, the pennant type smaller just to stick on the top of an open house sign like a balloon would be good. I also saw some about 3-4 ft high that were used to line the sidewalk of the Open House.   The giant ones that are about 10 ft high have been considered an eyesore here.

Do take photos when you are finished and show us here.  I am excited to see what you comeup with.

Balloons on signs are not legal in most areas of my area.  They're considered hazerdous for driving passers by.

I suppose that law might include flags too.  Worth investigating????  The fines in one of our counties is very high.

I ma just about convinced Open House is a total waste of time. I end up using it as a time to prospect. I meet neighbors but rarely sell a home. Maybe air balloon rides would help the success! LOL

Hi Gita - I just started to see these locally and I like the idea.  Lenn raises a good point.  It's impt that the flags not block driving sight lines.

Gita-I think that the Open House flags would be much better than those balloons. Better visability and when it gets really hot the balloons just don't last.

Gita, I think flags are a good idea. Flags might be what is needed to set your open house apart from others. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Gita, How did you make out with your flags? I also like the idea instead of balloons.

Gail, I like the small flags.

Lenn, I agree . Balloons and signs can be hazardous if they block the view.

Laura, I have had some success with open houses. It depends on the price and location.

Margaret , I agree with you.

Joseph, Atleast the flags will last and withstand all kinds of temperatures.
