Celebrating the Small Steps, Part 5....

I haven't written one of these for a while - only because I have been rather busy pursuing other avenues of generating business for myself.

However, I have to say that the steps that I've already taken have led to some very positive outcomes - well after the fact.

Back in October, I ran into one of the teachers at my neice and nephew's school at a tag sale. Her sister was with her that day. After we chatted about the available merchandise, I glibly asked if either one of them was looking to buy a house, and the sister mentioned that she and her husband were looking to downsize and move out of their current neighborhood, after he completed a few projects.

I spoke with the teacher Friday and asked how her sister's house was coming along. She told me that they did not know for certain now if they would be moving, but she wanted to know about buying a condo!!! Good thing I had my cards. I gave her one, and also directed her to my website, where I have links to several mortgage lenders.

Then, this Sunday evening, as I was leaving church, one of the members asked where I was that morning. I told her that I was at the office, and then I asked her when was she going to buy a house. I did, after all, post a flyer in my church's lobby when I first became a real estate agent. She told me that she was thinking about it before, but now she's by herself and would not want to buy a house - to which I was able to respond that condos in the area were reasonably priced. That got her attention; then she told me that her boss had been looking to buy a house and she didn't have my card to give. Of course, being that it was late Sunday evening, I didn't have my cards on me (very foolish - always remember to have cards on one's person at all times), but she asked if she would see me this evening -which she will - and I will have plenty of cards for her to hand out. She also mentioned that one of her daughters was looking to buy as well.

Not bad for two rather short conversations, huh?
