Arizona, along with Florida, is a golfer's haven. One statistic I read somewhere noted that there were more golf courses in Phoenix than there were McDonald's. That's a lot of courses.
In a continual effort to provide information we deem valuable to the public we will provide a weekly feature highlighting some of the greater Phoenix area golf courses.
Today's featured course is the Troon North Golf Course.
Located in North Scottsdale, about 7 miles north of old town Scottsdale, Troon North is comprised of two courses, the Monument and Pinnacle courses. Both courses offer spectacular desert scenery and will be challenging to even the lowest handicap golfer.
Designed by Tom Weiskopf, the two courses underwent a renovation and re-opened in October 2007. Both courses are open to the public and the new Pinnacle course has been ranked #21 by Golf Magazine in their poll of "100 Courses You Can Play".
Troon also sports a full service clubhouse including the Dynamite Grill which overlooks the 18th green of the Pinnacle course.
In addition to the courses is a community of beautifully built homes with scenic views, peaceful settings, and close proximity to the aforementioned golf courses.
