Free Registrataion for NAR Mid-Year Meeting

By
Real Estate Agent with Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc.

Did you know that registration for the NAR Mid-Year Meetings in Washington, D.C. next month is FREE?

I've been a member of NAR for more years than most REALTORS, and their annual mid-year meetings have always taken place in my back yard - Washington, D.C.  I've occasionally gone to the trade show, when I could round up some friends to go with me, but never registered or attended any of the sessions.

ImageChef I don't know if it's always been FREE - if so, I feel really stupid for never attending.  'Guess I assumed it was a couple hundred dollars like so many other conventions and meetings I've attended.

Well, just in case there are some other folks out there who don't know it's FREE, here's the link to REGISTER.  And here's a link to view the SCHEDULE.

The dates are May 11-16, and you don't have to go for the entire time.  In fact, I'll probably only go on the 13th, after the TRADE SHOW opens but before leaving Thursday for REBar Camp in Charlotte on May 15.

'Gotta allow some time for actually doing real estate business that week instead of just talking about it!

If nothing else, the NAR Mid-Year Meetings are a great excuse to take a trip to the Nation's Capitol and write off the whole thing!  And who knows, you might meet some other ActiveRainers there... or learn something new.

Cindy - Absolutely!  I plan to go on the 13th, but that means I have to change an appointment - I'll let you know if/when I pull that off.  Hey, I'm going to volunteer you in my response to Heath... 'hope that's okay.

Susie - Me too!  My husband and I are driving down together and he's going to free-lance it while I go to REBar camp.

Heath - I hear yah!  If you don't mind staying on the outskirts in Maryland or Virginia, you'll save a lot on accommodations.  But don't pick a location without confirming it's convenient to public transportation into D.C.  Cindy is in VA, I'm in MD, and you can check with either of us for suggestions.

Harry - I attended ever RE/MAX convention I could, and some Maryland Association of REALTORS conventions.  'Always glad when I take the time and make the investment to go.  Even my forays downtown to the NAR trade show have been very enlightening.

Margaret - You are lucky to be so close that you can go in for a day or so.  Unfortunately, when it means boarding the dogs, travel to DC and the costs of hotels, parking, etc, it's much harder to get there!  We don't miss State conferences and when we were with RE/MAX, we made theirs but NAR is tough!  I've often wondered why they don't have mid-years in major cities around the country!  It's good that lots of folks are close enough to DC to get there easily, though!  You're right - it is worth the investment!  Enjoy!

Hi Margaret...FAR did the same thing this past year in Orlando, at least on the Trade Show portion.  The seminars and such were fee based.  It did help bring out more people who would otherwise not have attended, myself included.  Good info.
