The more common problem though is that they do the job but do it in a sloppy manner. Look at the photo below. The shingle is in place but it is still not protecting the wood. Rain that runs off the roof, when it hits that incline, is going to be diverted somewhere, but not where you want to see it go. The wood is still exposed too.
Is it all really so difficult that the builder could not have neatly trimmed the flashing so it was not hung-up on the end of the gutter? Seems simple enough to me, especially if you are up there anyway. Now someone else has to go back up there and finish the job.
