When it comes to plodding your way through life from early on in school, to later on in college if you had that experience, to all sorts of on the job training, and even formalized continuing education classes like in Real Estate, have you ever observed that
Life Is This Great Big Wonderful Multiple Choice Test?
- Think of why a buyer might want to choose YOU as their REALTOR?
- a) you sell the most homes in town
- b) you advertise everywhere that you are the the ONE!
- c) you're their Uncle Fred or Aunt Sally
- d) you're the babe on the Interstate freeway billboard
- What about them using you as a Realtor to sell their home?
- a) they've seen your SOLD riders on homes in your neighborhood
- b) the prospect was a believer in your listing presentation.
- c) you come highly recommended from the neighbors
- d) you're new in real estate and they think your commission will be lower than those veteran Realtors
You get my point on this whole multiple choice thing whether it is real estate or life in general. You pretty much can believe whatever is in your head and make a convincing argument that it is true. Perception is reality of course. Life is absolutely not always black and white, but full of shades of grey.
Now does life have a few true/false questions thrown in there for you? How about deciding right and wrong? Most of the time that is either one answer or the other. Similar to math problems with ONE right answer only.
The answer to that is YES. There are indeed some absolutes. Everything is not a relative.
But in general when dealing with people and how they behave and how they interact with you and your own choices in situations, you do have a RANGE OF OPTIONS.
There we go again, back to multiple choice.
Like, how do I unload this home that I am under water in financially with the bank barking at my door?
- short sale
- foreclose
- file for bankruptcy
- run away to the Fiji islands
There are always seven ways (at least) to skin a cat.
So keep in mind that grey is ok, even if you haven't hit geezerhood yet. Grey is where most of us live most of the time. Pick the best answer and move on to the next question. Also going back and changing an answer once you got it wrong is ok in life, in most instances.
It's just the multiple choice test that is called LIFE!! Grab that #2 pencil and GO FOR IT!!
