Life Is This Great Big Wonderful Multiple Choice Test

By

Student TestWhen it comes to plodding your way through life from early on in school, to later on in college if you had that experience, to all sorts of on the job training, and even formalized continuing education classes like in Real Estate, have you ever observed that

Life Is This Great Big Wonderful Multiple Choice Test?

  • Think of why a buyer might want to choose YOU as their REALTOR?
  • a) you sell the most homes in town
  • b) you advertise everywhere that you are the the ONE!
  • c) you're their Uncle Fred or Aunt Sally
  • d) you're the babe on the Interstate freeway billboard
  • What about them using you as a Realtor to sell their home?
  • a) they've seen your SOLD riders on homes in your neighborhood
  • b) the prospect was a believer in your listing presentation.
  • c) you come highly recommended from the neighbors
  • d) you're new in real estate and they think your commission will be lower than those veteran Realtors

You get my point on this whole multiple choice thing whether it is real estate or life in general. You pretty much can believe whatever is in your head and make a convincing argument that it is true. Perception is reality of course. Life is absolutely not always black and white, but full of shades of grey.

Multiple ChoiceNow does life have a few true/false questions thrown in there for you? How about deciding right and wrong? Most of the time that is either one answer or the other. Similar to math problems with ONE right answer only.

The answer to that is YES. There are indeed some absolutes. Everything is not a relative.

But in general when dealing with people and how they behave and how they interact with you and your own choices in situations, you do have a RANGE OF OPTIONS.

There we go again, back to multiple choice.

Like, how do I unload this home that I am under water in financially with the bank barking at my door?

  • short sale
  • foreclose
  • file for bankruptcy
  • run away to the Fiji islands

There are always seven ways (at least) to skin a cat.

So keep in mind that grey is ok, even if you haven't hit geezerhood yet. Grey is where most of us live most of the time. Pick the best answer and move on to the next question. Also going back and changing an answer once you got it wrong is ok in life, in most instances.

It's just the multiple choice test that is called LIFE!! Grab that #2 pencil and GO FOR IT!!

The correct answer is? Hi Gary, Congrats on the feature. When in doubt, try C. It is as god as guess as any, right? Thankfully as you say, if you get wrong, you can change your answer ( as long as you are willing to change the performance to match).

Personally, I've found that being the babe on the Interstate freeway billboard has brought me a lot of business and sometimes I even sell some real estate.  :)

"To be or not to be, that is the question". If "not to be" then it is all simple. The trouble is when it is "To Be". It opens a miriad of other questions:

how to be

who to be

who to be with

and so on and so forth...

A lot of choices, and rarely black and white.

Very true observation

Every now and then there is an essay question.  Hopefully all of the multiple choice and true and false questions have prepared us for those!

Often times people have already decided what they want to do.  We just have to help them rationalize what they want to do.  This is not always a bad thing.

One of the important testing skills that is always taught is "When in doubt, Charlie out." (Always select 'c'). I wonder if that applies in life.

The art of rationalization is alive and well throughout society.  Unfortunately some of life's tests have to be answered with a yes or no, maybe's aren't options

When I am confronted with an issue or problem, I usually come up with several solutions and work my way to the best one, sometimes in a few minutes and sometimes in a few days. Multiple choice rocks! Great post, Gary.

Gary, it never ceases to amaze me how folks come to their conclusions.  I've lost a ton of leads.  Oh, they see the greener grass...and then come back to their senses and me .  Then, I have them for life and other leads.  I never worry about the lost sheep.  They'll be back....

Muiltiple choice; sometimes those are the easiest tests, and sometimes the most difficult. Life at times is just like that. Thank you for another great philosophical post, presented with true homespun guilessness!
