I decided to re-post this blog because I was contacted from a huge news channel in New York that might be writing a story about (The Octavius Project)
And yes that is Vegas Bob in the photograph above.
They asked me many questions about the work I was doing and may even us some of my photographs, I will keep my fingers crossed.
This post was first blogged to (Localism) back in 1-21-2009.
THE OCTAVIUS PROJECT 350-foot, 23-story tower 665 rooms / 71 suites Three new pool villas on second floor Convention Center 2 levels attached to Palace Tower 110,000-square feet of flexible meeting space 263,000-square feet ballroom New pools Replace Apollo pool & outdoor spas with three new pools one 1,600-square-foot invited-guest-only pool two 1,900-square-foot pools for hotel guests, private parties, catered functions This project expansion for Caesars is priced at over 1 billion and has had it's ups and downs as seen and read around the web. I am working for Embassy Glass one of the oldest glass companies in Las Vegas, and we have a great crew. We are continuing to install huge glass panels around the top 21-24 floors. Like all projects in Las Vegas, there is talk about cutting back and lay-offs. But in the long run The Octavius will continue to be built. Here are some photographs taken from the 24th floor (1-21-2009 In the photograph above I am tied up safely to prevent injury! I am pointing down to one of the old pools that is being fixed up, shown in the next photo below. As you can see where I am standing, there is no barricade and the drop is over 300 feet. Below is another photograph of where the new pools will be going attached to some of the older ones. And if you look real close at the bottom of the photo there is a trailer behind a white truck, these are the glass panels we are flying from the ground to the top floors.
In the photo below I am pointing at the new convention center being built for The Octavius at Caesars Palace.
Below is the shell of the new convention center.
And below is one of the many views that The Octavius has to offer. photographs above taken by: Robert Swetz and duplicating in any form is in violation of copyright infringement and subject to fines.
