Do We Take the Conveniences of Life for Granted?

Yep, I take things for granted every single day. Most importantly if I'm at the office and left something at home, or vice versa, I'll run back and get it. My business office is less than 2 miles from my house...that's something I really take for granted. Maybe I'll never be able to move, (lol).

It is crazy we are so spoiled with going to different stores when we probably could get it at one and save time

Hmm, 4 miles for a pizza, I guess I do take that for granted, there are probably 5 pizza places within a mile from me, in all different directions, like you said.

You'll adapt and get used to it I'm sure.

Donna, this sounds like that classic location location location rule you are experiencing or lack thereof. Location can be highly underestimated till you experience what you are describing. Retail follows rooftops so if enough people are somewhere the stores eventually get closer.

I enjoyed your post (and your graphics are great!!).  I live in a small town that we all affectionately refer to as "the bubble".  When they closed our small grocer and we all learned that we would have to drive (less than 2 miles) to the grocery store, you would have thought the world was coming to an end!!!  But...as a young girl, we used to WALK 10 miles to the closest "convenience" store and thought nothing of it!!!  It is funny how our circumstances change our perspective!!!

You will likely learn to shop a lot more on line and there are things you simply won't shop for at all -- our 2 cents.

Hi Donna, Your area sounds a lot like my mine. I live 8 miles from our Wal-Mart and the closes grocery store is 4 miles. One store that has just came to our area in the past year is Tractor Supply; don't laugh but it has became one of our favorite stores!

As time goes on our area is getting better about attracting various stores. Hang in there I bet things will be changing in your area too as it grows.

When I joined the Navy I was subjected to a paid prison so to speak. Naval boot camp isn't physically hard at all. The real challenge of the experience is the "living condition."

I will never forget sitting on the cold cement floor by my bunk longing for a cup of coffee and actual blanket that didn't feel like a green scouring pad.

The creature comforts of life. I totality understand being spoiled by what your used to.

pay an arm and a leg at the local store 4 miles away.  However, I like my house so it is worth it to me.

Hi Donna... it's really the adjustment that is difficult.  Once you adapt to the new environment and coonditions it will become more routine and less noticably difficult.  Hang in there... Austin really has some very nice compensating factors!

I know what you mean.  When we moved to Conroe we were so far out that Pizza Inn would not even deliver to us.  It took years to get cable and DSL.  It was a lot like being Amish

Donna - I'm sure that I take my conveniences for granted.  I don't have 2 of everything, but I do pretty much have 1 of just about anything I could want nearby... :)
