What Does it Take to be a REALtor?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Brooks Prime Properties Wichita Falls Texas

Today's market is testing us all. Testing us in a way that is beyond normal boundaries. Today is the day that we decide who is Real and who is going. Going where? By the wayside. Either you're ready to place your license on the line or you're waffling like what's going on at the local Waffle house.

Real Estate is not part time and only the strong survive. You think you've spent too much time with Real Estate and it's time to spend family time or take a long hot shower? Think first....

What does it take to be a REALtor?

To be real:

You must: Make your own goals and stick with them. You only have yourself to answer to.

You must: Be responsible and astute and awake and ready. Did you get a lead? Did you follow up?

You must: Treat your customers as if they were family. Would you treat your mom that way?

You must: Remember your ethics. If it benefits you and no one else...it's wrong.

You must: Work when you're tired as I am now.

You must: Sit up in your chair and choose to make that call even though you have other things to do.

You must: Pretend you are dealing with yourself. What would you want in a sevice situation? Are you there?

You must: Get up in the morning even though the covers are saying, "stay, I will keep you comfortable."

You must: Be prepared for a "NO" and be ready to step forward.

You must: You must look to your future and plan ahead. Don't just live in the present. It will get better.

You must: Remember you are a Realtor. Your family will understand that this time is difficult and

You are doing it for them as well as you...and as well as your clients.

Get Real. Quit complaining. You're taking up time. Get busy. Do your job. Love your job. Love the people.

In the past two weeks I have listed a total of 1.2 million. Now I have to sell them. Get Real. Get busy.

Deb - AND ...You must: Quit blaming the market, and using it as an excuse.  even when it's the easy way out.

Brian, thank you. There's no easy way to say it anymore. Just DO IT like Nike....Just DO IT. I have a strong feeling that you and yours follow the same path as I do. I stray...I just have to keep focused. Good luck to you and I always appreciate your comments. Thank you my friend.

Deb

Carol, go girl. You got it. The market, the market, whine, whine, whine. Gimeee. gimeee. gimmee. I don't want to have to work for it! Whatever. I know you work. You never get off the phone in that picture! LOL.

hug,

Deb

It seems a lot of agents need to be reminded of number 4 lately. And I can't treat my customers like family. My family drives me nuts. LOL

The love it or leave it syndrone. I had to have a little talk with one of my buyer agents this past week to the same effect.  Love it or Leave it, the market is what the market is, we can't change it but we can accept, adjust and work in it.

That certainly is a list of things we gotta do! But honestly you are right. And don't we have to wear so many hats in the process. So..... now that you have all those new listings.... Get to work!  ;o)

Hello Debbie. I miss interacting with you.

Yu are right,  today's market is testing us all. California's real estate is still desirable but we are facing some real challenges. We simply must stop looking back and focus on looking forward, Best wishes everyone. Have a great memorial day.
