Today's market is testing us all. Testing us in a way that is beyond normal boundaries. Today is the day that we decide who is Real and who is going. Going where? By the wayside. Either you're ready to place your license on the line or you're waffling like what's going on at the local Waffle house.

Real Estate is not part time and only the strong survive. You think you've spent too much time with Real Estate and it's time to spend family time or take a long hot shower? Think first....

What does it take to be a REALtor?

To be real:

You must: Make your own goals and stick with them. You only have yourself to answer to.

You must: Be responsible and astute and awake and ready. Did you get a lead? Did you follow up?

You must: Treat your customers as if they were family. Would you treat your mom that way?

You must: Remember your ethics. If it benefits you and no one else...it's wrong.

You must: Work when you're tired as I am now.

You must: Sit up in your chair and choose to make that call even though you have other things to do.

You must: Pretend you are dealing with yourself. What would you want in a sevice situation? Are you there?

You must: Get up in the morning even though the covers are saying, "stay, I will keep you comfortable."

You must: Be prepared for a "NO" and be ready to step forward.

You must: You must look to your future and plan ahead. Don't just live in the present. It will get better.

You must: Remember you are a Realtor. Your family will understand that this time is difficult and

You are doing it for them as well as you...and as well as your clients.

Get Real. Quit complaining. You're taking up time. Get busy. Do your job. Love your job. Love the people.

In the past two weeks I have listed a total of 1.2 million. Now I have to sell them. Get Real. Get busy.

Russ, don't I know and understand. My accountant told me that I could make X and be able to buy a tent. Or, I could make X and pay the government u39wuoiuw4oiruowoo of dollars...which means I could buy a tent!

Geesh. What a choice?

Good luck,

Deb

Deb, solid thoughts on real estate all the way around. Very much about your commitment. You can afford a tent? I'm still sleeping under the stars. It's hell on rainy days but on the nice nights, what a view!! ; ) All about attitude. Hang in there.

Gary Dear,

I was attempting to show my great attitude. I took all my excuses and dispelled them. I'm more than hanging in there. I'm happy and determined to have fun in life! Take care my friend,

Marchel, this post came from me when I remembered I had to call someone and didn't really want to. We just have to follow through on our commitments or we're doomed. I would hire you in a heart beat my friend.

Cristal,

I guess really it's that way with all commitments in life, huh? I hate hearing something come out of my mouth that I can't prove...it's a test I give myself. I test my own integrity and ethics...it keeps me in line. I will look forward to your post.

Deb - We always had a written Daily Plan. It was prepared before the recruiters would go home and placed in the in-box so that when they came in the next morning the day was planned. No doubt, it was in writing. A minimum of 15 calls each day = 75 calls each week. Making the Daily Plan definitely took some work to prepare but it proved results. If you don't know where you are going, how will you know how to get there. Seventy five calls each week usually drew one or two job orders. We were employment recruiters but you can use the same plan; you must prospect, develop business, develop friendships and network. The telephone is your best friend.

Yes, I'm still recruiting. www.SmartJobsUS.com

Ceil, that's is so brilliant. Yes, that's what I should have said and it's something I don't always do. Place it in writing. Although, I guess with my post I just did. The post is to remind myself what's important and what I'm working for!

You are a wise and wonderful woman my friend. PLACE IT IN WRITING. PERFECT.

Thanks Ceil,

and, hello to Carl.

Darla, I just receive an $850,00.00 referral from Active Rain...I suppose I ought to write about it. I'm just so busy working it! Love the platform.

Deb

Steve, I do know they are. They are soooo warm and comfy and inviting. Geesh, I'm going to bed. To heck with the Rockets.

Betina, good one. You're right. Boy, they (whoever they are) sure knew what they were talking about.

Sally, thank you. I've missed you too. We need to catch up!

Deb - you have very clear vision and an excellent understanding of what it takes to truly be successful.  Theres a ton of cutsey sayings you could have used - 'the early bird gets the worm' type sayings but instead you weren't shy and you hit the situation squarely in the nose.  We all have to keep working when we don't feel like it and push when we're tired, keep focused on why we are doing this - the good points like making a living for one, meeting and helping tons of great people for another.

Nice job on the listings!

Brian.

Brian, thank you. There's no easy way to say it anymore. Just DO IT like Nike....Just DO IT. I have a strong feeling that you and yours follow the same path as I do. I stray...I just have to keep focused. Good luck to you and I always appreciate your comments. Thank you my friend.

Deb

Carol, go girl. You got it. The market, the market, whine, whine, whine. Gimeee. gimeee. gimmee. I don't want to have to work for it! Whatever. I know you work. You never get off the phone in that picture! LOL.

The love it or leave it syndrone. I had to have a little talk with one of my buyer agents this past week to the same effect.  Love it or Leave it, the market is what the market is, we can't change it but we can accept, adjust and work in it.
