"Ark of Taste" Dinner ~ Davidson, NC (Lake Norman)

Slow Food Carolina Piedmont Region is sponsoring this rare dining experience. Our local Grateful Growers Farm in Pumpkin Center (Denver~Maiden area) will be a part of this exciting epicurean evening event to remember. Slow Food created this program to preserve food items that are important but disappearing from today’s culinary and agricultural practices.

The 10 course dinner will be prepared by 10 amazing local chefs and a gifted chocolatier. The dinner will include rare and endangered foods that are produced by area growers.

This event not only serves as a way to educate the consumer but will serve as a fundraising activity for each of the Davidson and Denver Farmers’ Markets.

So mark your calendars now!

I would love to know what foods are disappearing from today's agricultural practices. Do you know?

Terrie: They did mention two in the article one being the persimmon and the other being the 'Datil' pepper. I guess people are getting away from using persimmon's like they use to. The 'Datil' pepper is said to make a very good hot sauce or relish and is popularin the St. Augustine, Florida area...
