Through Sunday, May 3. Disney on Ice. Rev up for non-stop fun with four of your favorite Disney stories at Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy. Friday, May 1. McDaniels Golf Classic. In 2008, the McDaniels Golf Classic received contributions of more than $169,000. Over the last 18 years, this tournament has raised more than $2 million for cancer treatment and research. Last year, there were 60 sponsors and more than 75 volunteers who supported this event. There was also a Survivor Team sponsor who hosted a round of golf for four cancer survivors who were treated at Palmetto Health. The event includes a VIP reception and a silent and live auction the evening before as well as lunch and dinner at Fort Jackson Golf Club on the day of the tournament. Ft. Friday, May 1. Friday Night Out! Bring the kids this week to Plex Indoor Sports-Sandhills for Friday Night Out while you grab a nice dinner sans kids.  Saturday, May 2. Rosewood Crawfish Festival. From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., lovers of all things Creole and Cajun are invited to adorn Rosewood Drive and take part in one of the city's favorite celebrations, featuring 5,000 pounds of fresh Louisiana grown crawfish. If crawfish aren't your thing, a large assortment of other options will be available for your dining pleasure along with live music on two stages and fun for the whole family, featuring a street vaulting competition and the Community Event Expo area. Music From N'awlins native Better Than Ezra to Columbia's own Tootie and the Jones, The Reason Your Listening, and Pixie's tribute band So Hush Hush, this year's festival line-up is sure to please a wide array of musical palates. Admission Tickets to the Rosewood Crawfish Festival are $10 at the gate. Children 12 and under are free. Saturday, May 2 - Sunday, May 3. The Battle for Columbia. The Battle for Columbia is an educational living-history event for the entire family. Come and experience a part of our great American history. Go back in time with Union and Confederate soldiers. Feel and see the boom of mighty field artillery, the rattle of musketry, and the thunder of horses hooves. Visit the encampments of both armies. There'll be picnic foods, souvenirs and lots of fun for everyone! In Sandy Run at No. 125 on I-26, Only 10 minutes from the airport. Just follow the big signs! Thursday, May 7. Urban Tour. Urban Tour is a free event for the whole family, showcasing all that Columbia's downtown has to offer. The self-guided walking tour includes special offers and giveaways from retailers, live entertainment, a glimpse into downtown living and the stories behind some of our historic buildings as well as plenty of FREE food and drinks including beer with valid ID. Businesses along the tour will keep their doors open late for the event. Free shuttle and horse carriage rides are available from 5 to 9 p.m. to assist pedestrians. The event will take place rain or shine with the entertainment adaptable to street performances or inside designated buildings throughout the tour. Thursday, May 7. Rhythm and Blooms
. Music and flowers after hours-you won't experience a night like this anywhere else in Columbia! Guests can enjoy live entertainment, local artists and wine sampling in the Botanical Garden every Thursday night in May. Cash bar and tapas will be available for purchase at the event. Through Saturday, May 23. Elephant's Graveyard. The circus comes to Trustus as George Brant's new and exciting play, ELEPHANT'S GRAVEYARD brings the Big Top to the mainstage. When a struggling circus comes to a small town in Tennessee, things are shaping up to be a normal stop for the show. The train arrives, the animals and performers settle in, and the tent is constructed. Finally the ever popular parade ensues, but Mary, the circus' prize elephant, panics and causes a catastrophe. Events careen towards a climax you won't believe as the townspeople seek revenge on Mary. Set in September of 1916, the play combines historical fact and legend, exposing the deep-seated American craving for spectacle, violence and revenge. Lissa there is always something to do! Always! I probably don'tcover half of it. With the beach and mountains 1 1/2 hour away there's even more options with a shot drive. LOVE IT!
