Katerina - it's an interesting site but their on-line marketing was a major turnoff. Can't tell you how many emails I got a few months ago about my free membership in their group, then it was expiring, and then it started all over again. Lost my respect for the methods very quickly. It was just spam IMO. Sorry but I can't be supportive of a site that tries to attract members that way. Seemed cheap to me.

Katrina, sounds like an elitist club to me.  Not the kind of thing that would attract me even if I qualified to join.  But, I can see the value in possibly picking up some rich snobby clients for those realtor members.

Maybe someday I would qualify for a group like that.  But until then I am content with my household income of $275,000 :)

Katerina... I am going to agree with Jeff D.  And too me, it's just like the term that I use in some cases..."the rich getting richer - catering to the rich".  Sure, you mentioned some big names, but I wonder if it's an egotistical site. I have been to the elite clubs, restuarants, and certain places in NYC, Miami, and a few other places. And no matter how much money I have, I prefer the humble, down to earth people.  And I also agree with Lora...  Maybe it's a site for those to brag?  In any case, doesn't feel like my cup of tea. Sorry if my comment sounds negative, but I love it when people mention free things, and they have more money than the average person. I just have a problem with this.  But thanks for sharing.

It's always interesting to me to see which niche social networking sites take off, and which never really get their members active. Sounds like this one is pretty active, so it would be an excellent site for those agents that target affluent clients. Wherever you can connect with clients, right?

Hi Katerina!
My problem with what you describe is "supplying verification of your net worth".  In a world where fraud runs rampant, I cant' imagine supplying an unknown entity such as this with my financial information. Big names no longer translates into automatic trust.

Paula- Nestor said the same thing to me because I wanted to join. He said that there is no way he is going to let anyone verify anything about our income, but we were not thinking from the fraud standpoint, we were thinking along the lines of the government being able to come in and snatch up all our money in one fell swoop. :) That is scarier than the fraud.

Lora- Snobby? The only snobby people I know are the wanna be rich people. The truly wealthy and rich people are nice, humble and the biggest philanthropists in the entire world. They have a club in New York where billionaires meet to discuss and plan how to give away all their money before they die.

We work with the affluent market. We live in an affluent town with people like Bruce Springstein who just bought a home here and Tommy Lee Jones and the wealthiest polo players, owners, equestrian crowd from the Levi Strauss family, Coca Cola and a lot more.

We listed a home that is 3 million and the people are so down to earth and yet have a net worth of millions.

The best thing that I like about being around the affluent people is that not only does it rub off, it is very empowering to be able to have intelligent conversations when we are listing their homes instead of how much our commission is, which is rarely brough up, if ever.

To tell you the truth, I have met more snobby people that are middle class than I have in our market. Katerina

Rich- I love your comment. Thank you. You are right, this site is very active. If you do not perform the mininum participation then your membership is canceled. That is a great way to make sure that people who join really do want to connect and meet other like minded people.

Jeff- Sorry you feel that way. I eat at elite restaurants and am invited to events and charity balls and such. I happen to not feel the same way you do. In fact, the wealthy people I know and work for listing their homes and also my friends, are all down to earth. They are not egotistical because they are confident in who they are and have healthy self esteem. The wanna be rich people are the snobs and I stay away from them.

Rich people like free too. How do you think a lot of rich people became rich? They saved their money, spent wisely, invested wisely, worked their butts off to make their companies successful, and were frugal. I will take something free any time of the day.

They do a lot of philanthropic work and event announcements through this site and the rich people I know give alot. In fact, I know people who are reverse tithe payers. That means they give away 90% of their money to charity and live on 10%. If they do this on their own free will, than that is fine. If the government takes it away, that is NOT fine. I digress, sorry.

Lovely subject amongst the ashes of a nearly economic collapse in our country. . I can think of hundreds of organizations that I would rather belong too. . .like strength.org  . .they feed American children when their parents can't.

Missy- Nestor does not want anyone snooping around in our finances and who is going to verify? But he is more concerned with making it easier for the government and other Bolshevik types to come in and confiscate the money of the entire group.

Fernando- The group does a tremendous amount of philanthropic work. It is pretty tough to be attacked all the time for having made it in the world. We need a place of like minded people to support each other and provide a refuge from the 'let's hang the rich' mentality that is eroding this country these days.

The Americans in this group feed plenty of hungry people and they do serve on boards that feed the poor and heal the sick, etc.

I was thinking more in the lines of joining for connecting with more affluent people to sell their homes and find large properties, like hotels for them.

But then again, we can all join Squidoo- (which I do have lenses on) where you can be pressured to give your profits to charity while making Seth look like a king of the Internet. :)

Dinah- If you create the product, then charge for that product, then the demand for that product goes up, then the supply is increased which takes capital, then the profit is made. Capitalism. I love it. More power to the rich. I have been both and rich is better. The great thing about our country ( which is now in jeapardy) is that anyone can rise from homelessness to self made millionaires.

I was just wondering if some of the people had to drop out of this social networking group when they were forced to pay back their big bonuses?  ie: AIG

Carol- You need to read my research on those big bonuses. I wrote a post about AIG bonuses. Those people worked all year for $1.00 - the bonus was really a salary but the way the congress wrote it, it was termed a bonus. It was a contractual agreement that if they stayed the whole year and worked for nothing but one dollar that they would be compensated at the end of their fiscal year. I would have taken my money and moved to Costa Rica if I were any of those people. This was one of the biggest hang the rich scams I have seen our government pull off yet, with of course, ACORN and the UNION backing them up.

Only 2 of these people worked in the troubled office at AIG. All the rest worked in departments of AIG that were making money. The department that was in trouble, those 2 guys are some of the only people in the entire world who understand that process and how to turn it around. They deserved their bonus just compenstation of $750,000. I would not have even done that job for that amount with all the death threats and abuse they had to put up with. Read the letter from the one man that quit, it is in the New York Times a while back. It was the biggest rape of American Capitalism I have seen so far with much more on its way.

We have seriously been thinking about where can we move and keep our money.
