40 Comments on May Day - New Hampshire Celebrates Spring
Hi Joan: Thanks for the history lesson - I was just talking with someone about May Day and we couldn't remember what it was about - now I know! Thanks.
:)
Hi Joan. What gorgeous photos. You have a natural eye for beauty. Enjoy the season!
Matt -- May Day used to be a lot of fun! I wish we could bring it back to life.
Kathryn ~ Thanks for the compliment on the photos. It was a lot of fun taking pictures of the beatuful flowers and trees. At is a beautiful time of year.. although it really gets my allergies going.
This is a great post and I almost missed it due to AR taking the newest commented posts off the roster.
I look for the posts that garner the most comments because they are usually the best well written and most educational as well as truly informative. Debi brought to my attention in one of her recent posts and I would love to hear more feedback on the issue.
In Grammar school we used to celebrate May day and the big kids got to braid the May Pole. Too bad that died out because it was always a very colorful highlight toward the end of the school year.
Sabrina -- I am not exactly clear on what is going on with AR.. I would give them a call or do a post on this to start discussion on this topic. It is getting more and more difficult to find the posts that one wants to read. I am glad that you found my post and thanks for taking the time to comment. P.S. I'll be looking for your post re: AR and taking the newest commented posts off the roster... I bet, like myself, a lot of folks are not even aware of this.
Joan my friend, you take the most gorgeous photos. They bring back amazing memories for me of driving thru Vermont & New Hampshire many years ago.

I loved your slide show, Joan. I remember we had a "maypole" on the playgrounds in elementary school but I never knew why it was called that since we used in during all the other months, too.
Hi Jim -- I had a lot of fun taking the pictures and putting together the slide show. It certainly is interesting to learn about the holidays, festivals and traditions.
I haven't seen a maypole in years. Thanks for the history lesson on May Day.
Russell -- I think we should bring this holiday back! It is a lot of fun and I remember everyone had a great time dancing around the maypole.
