There is no Sesame Street in the Worthington OH 43085 ZIP code... or Columbus OH 43085 for that matter. I used Google Maps to be sure.
Wouldn't Worthington area neighborhoods be easier to sort out if they weren't all named Worthington?
Remember "One of these things is not like the other..." Just in case you don't remember here is song from Big Bird....
OK the big bowl of bird seed....is not the same as the other three.
You knew.
"You are so smart!"
One of these things is not like the other...
"One of these things is not like the others, One of these things just doesn't belong, Can you tell which thing is not like the others By the time I finish my song?"
Villages at Worthington
Worthington Crossing
Worthington Estates
Worthington Highlands
One of these things is not like the other...
The difference? Worthington Estates is in the City of Worthington. The others are not.
Villages at Worthington, Worthington Highlands and Worthington Crossing are in the City of Columbus. Those three neighborhoods are in the Worthington School District.
Just to make it totally confusing Worthington Highlands and Worthington Crossing have Westerville mailing addresses!
Rule of thumb... most of the neighborhoods with the word Worthington in their name are not in the City of Worthington but are instead in the City of Columbus or Perry Township... or they could be in Sharon Township.
"W-O-R-T-H-I-N-G-T-O-N" will be abbreviated Wo throughout the rest of this post to keep Google etc. from thinking I am trying to do something funny....
City of Columbus
Lakes of Wo.
Ravines at Wo.
Villages at Wo.
Village at Wo. Crossing
Wo. Crossing
Wo. Forest Condominiums
Wo. Glen (not to be confused with Worthinglen but that's another story...)
Wo. Heights
Wo. Highlands
Wo. Mill
Wo. Park*
Wo. Run
Wo. Trace
Wo. Woods Condominiums
Perry and Sharon Township
Wo Hills...
Most of Worthington Hills is in Perry Township just a few streets on the eastern edge of the large neighborhood are in Sharon Township. ... Well actually I guess on the south end there are homes which are in the city of Worthington, on the south end of the huge neighborhood.
City of Worthington
Wo Estates
Wo Park*
Residence of Wo.
and of course Old Worthington...
Can you think of other City of Worthington neighborhoods with the word Worthington in their name?
* There are 3 Worthington Park neighborhoods There is a neighborhood called Wo Park off Worthington Galena Road, condos named Wo. Park off Sancus and a much older City of Worthington neighborhood with the same name. I think the original neighborhood should have been able to call dibs on the name and not shared it....

Gotta wonder...creativity and the City fathers or developers...we have 4 or more streets in New Berlin that are Hawthorne....Drive, Court, Lane, Avenue...and Nicolet is everywhere....they had to stop that a few years ago when a 911 call was answered at the wrong address...necessity IS the mother of invention. Blog on...enjoy the sunshine !
I think it has to do with developers more than city fathers here and has to do with ID'ing new City of Columbus developments... same thing is true in some of the other "suburban" areas of the City of Columbus, there are lots of City of Columbus neighborhoods named Hilliard...near Hilliard... lots of neighborhoods with the name Westerville in the City of Columbus, in the Westerville school district (I think... mostly... )
Suburb's name gives a reference. Lots of development has been in the City of Columbus over the years.
It came up in a conversation with a consumer, recently.
Maureen, it's funny three out of the four are NOT in Worthington. Big Bird might have a fit if he saw this pattern. Shouldn't three out of four be IN Worthington? Gets confusing to people for sure.
Gary... I guess I should have said three of the neighborhoods are in the City of Columbus... I started out using two neighborhoods which are in the City of Columbus and a third that is in a township. The conversation that inspired this was about the neighborhood named after Worthington but is NOT in the City of Worthington or the City of Worthington. Thanks for stopping by Kristin.
